Got two of these rivited base Colt 5 round mags with a rifle back in the 90's. Need 20s. An old 2013 ARF thread says to not modify but sell. Still true? My Dremel is ready  Bzzzzzzz. |

I remember a young 19 or 20 year-old me drilling out the rivets in the base plates of the five-rounders that came with my first AR many moons ago during the era of those neutered Colts.

I bought a Colt Competition heavy barrel in about 1998 and it came with two nine round Colt marked AR-15 magazines. I also bought a John Masen nine round 223 AR-15 magazine. I think the Colt five round had the same appearance as my nine round mags. The John Masen could be purchased in nine or five round configuration. Two Colt nine round and far right John Masen nine round  Two Colt nine round and far right John Masen nine round.  |
