Has anybody else places an order woth cloid defensive during the deployment says theyve had. I placed an order over a month ago and still dont have it. Theyve never taken this long in 5-6 lights ive bought. On top of that they have had multiple sales since the one i bought a light during. These sales are bug money off too. Like 40% off. Makes me think there trying to use my money to make their new pistol light and dont have stock for all the lights their selling. Than after a month or two they will finally fulfill your order. If id known that i wouldve still maybe placed an order but i wouldve bought a surefire light too because i need one now not 2-3 months from now. Im starting to think all the talk is real and cloud defensive is falling apart

So have you got any of your lights or are you still waiting on them

I’m waiting on a Mini Rein that I ordered on 7/29.  And only after I didn’t received the order in a timely manner did I poke around the internet to find that Cloud Defensive seems to be having some issues and has been very slow to ship orders.  I’m not at all happy about this and just sent another email to them looking for a definitive ETA.

What did you order, op?

I'm super patient with ordering stuff and I get that stuff happens sometimes. But if I'm not getting communicated with when I reach out, I will get nasty. I can't stand it when my efforts to communicate are ignored. It triggers my dark side.

Go on their various social media sites and DM them. If they continue to ignore you, blast them in public on those same platforms.

Don't act like a raving lunatic because the general public won't take your side. Post your experience with the ordering process and the lack of comms. Ask others if they're experiencing the same thing. Mention that you're hearing from all your friends in the firearms industry and on popular websites that they are having a lot of the same issues.

Trust me, they are deathly afraid of the rumor mill and of bad press getting any momentum. Casually mention that you are thinking about contacting your bank/cc company and start the stop payment/charge back process.

Be consistently vocal and they'll fall all over themselves trying to make you stop telling everyone about your bad experience.

Yes, you shouldn't have to do that. Time to play hardball, then never do business with them again. After they resolve the issue, unless they have a really compelling reason why they weren't doing their part, let them know privately that you can't justify doing business with them again (if you feel it's warranted).

If they're truly working to do better as a business, they'll appreciate any constructive feedback.

I ordered during the 40% off and have not received my light yet.

I did receive "an update" email on 09/04 -

"We are sure some of you are starting to question where your order is or when you’ll get it. We absolutely understand the concern you have and want to assure that your order is accounted for, we are working on it and building lights every day. As always. From the deployment code to a series of setbacks outside our control, we have been pushed further behind than we ever wanted to be. However, Cloud has delivered on every light we have ever sold. That’s not changing. And we’ll work tirelessly for you, getting you that world-class product, as quickly as possible. We sincerely apologize for the delay. We exist because of you guys and that is never lost of us. So on behalf of everyone at Cloud, thank you for the support and your patience."

I ordered a Rein 3.0 during their July 4th sale and after a month it hadn't shipped yet so I canceled the order and bought a Surefire from Primary Arms.

ETA. I like the two MCHs I have and liked the OWLs I used to have(other than weight) but I'm not waiting over a month for a light when there are other great options that I can have in less than a week.

I was pretty set on Cloud for all my lighting needs. I really liked the MCH handhelds. I got the text for the deployment code and decided I needed another MCH because the price was too good. I started thinking what is taking so long about 2 weeks after the order. Emailed. Took a couple days to get a response and it was kind of BS. I think they claimed “the deployment code got leaked” and they got over run by orders. Seems like their website should have a quantity of things before hitting sold-out. I looked around on the internet and found a post from some whistleblower who worked on the pistol light. Said it’s a shit show and the owners don’t give a shit anymore. Modlite might be my next brand loyalty. I’m kind of that way.

Still waiting.

Ordered aug 28.

Emailed after a month - took a week to get a reply.

I suspect they need capital to out the epl light into production and pumped out the code… Because they followed with another code shortly after. Odd behaviour for a company that was supposedly “inundated” beyond expectations and had no plan to actually be shipping and filling orders in a timely manner.

Previous purchases with CD were fast. Emails were responded to in hours, lights shipped in a day or two.

I’ll be cancelling my order if it takes another few weeks before my chargeback timeline expires.

They have within a day or so answered me emails. I emailed at 3 weeks i think and they said another week i emailed at 5 weeks and they blamed it on supply chain issues. Honestly i think they need money to get their new pistol lights made and they sold more lights than they had stock for and took thr money anyway and are now havibg trouble getting any lights produced at all. Shame i like their stuff but i need a light sooner than later and with surefire selling their big candela lights on sale for like $250 to $290 depending on color and stuff im gonna go back to surefire. So i may be asking for a refund by thr end of the week if i dont hear something soon.

A further email with the company kinda all but confirmed this.

They far outsold what they are able to produce right now.

I asked for refund on my order today.

It’s all well and good to operate a company in this manner, but:

Be upfront and honest
Give reasonable time lines
Don’t run a second sale shortly after the first…

I really like my rein, and really wanted some more CD lights, but the way they did this really feels shady.

So as bad as I hated too I asked for a refund today too. We’ll see if they fulfill that request or give me the runaround.

Have you gotten your refund?  Has anybody gotten one that has asked?

So emailed about a refund yesterday. Joshua had been answering almost within a few hours every time. Now for some reason nothing. We’ll see may be busy. A little worried they spent what I paid them on building new pistol lights and are hoping we hold on until they sell some of those and build new rein lights. Everywhere I have looked they are out of stock. Primary arms palmetto state and Midwest optics are either out of stock or almost. Kinda like they either quit restocking or they have been restocked in a while.

Hope I’m not out $300 I’ll be a little pissed after spending a couple thousand with them. I know that’s not much to some but it’s a lot to me for lights.

I wanted to add my experience to this thread:

Last Friday I stripped out a screw on my CD OWL.  I reached out to Cloud to get it repaired, they stated they weren't able to fix it, but could replace it with a Rein 3.0.  That kinda bummed me out, but what am I gonna do?

On Monday Cloud received the OWL, on Tuesday I got a response saying that they didn't have any constant on switches for the Rein but could substitute in the dual switch (I'd rather have that anyway).  I received tracking info that same day.

It appears their website doesn't have true time inventory.  Their website is allowing the sale of Rein's, but I was told they don't have the OEM switches.  Is everyone getting upgraded to the dual switch?

Now I'm concerned about using these lights, having something break, and being stuck with a $300 brick because CD went tits up.

Let me know if you get it because I’ve learned tracking doesn’t mean it’s on the way. It could mean they printed a label

@countrygunner

Took 48 hours for the refund to appear on my card.

They were quite gracious and quick to offer it as an out and i was a little suspicious , but it did show up.

Gave me mine also with a nice message too. Makes me wonder if they got in over their head but now they got another sale of blems.

Either way I haven’t got my money yet but I’m sure I’ll get it Monday. They just refunded Friday

I just ordered one of Clouds 1.5 Series lights tonight. I got the HC version. Let’s see how long it takes to get it? Cloud sent a text out advertising the sale and the new light so their shipping should be quick as expected since they initiated the sale via text message! I bought a light during the DEPLOYMENT sale and waited a little longer then in the past and I still have confidence in them!
UPDATE:  Received light 10/9 and I like the new Rein 1.5

I just asked them to cancel my order.

The 40% of sale was back in July. November is a couple of days away and still no light.

In that time I have received more sale emails. I think Cloud Defensive is hurting and are trying to generate as much cash as they can to stay open.

ETA:
10/30 - emailed Cloud and received response the order has been canceled
11/01 - credit card is showing refund

My Rein finally showed up at 2 months to the day.  I had never bought one of their lights before, mostly because of price, but the 40% off convinced me, plus I wanted to support a local company.  I don't think it's any brighter than a Streamlight, especially for double the price, but I haven't done a lot of comparing yet.  I doubt I buy anymore of their lights.

I bought a REIN 2.0 from the random Halloween sale email I got on Oct 18th. Had it in my mailbox on the 24th.

I ordered a Rein Mini and one of the pocket lights on Tuesday Nov 11th. They showed in inventory. They had free shipping but I paid for two day as it was a Birthday gift for that weekend. I then placed a second order for a charger and some extra batteries. That order shipped Wednesday and I received Friday. The original Rein and pocket lights still have not shipped. I missed the birthday.
Reached out and they replied that they were busy and sorry for the inconvenience.
Really bummed it is taking so long. The worst part is a guy I know put a new one up for sale the next day for $200. I passed as I had just ordered one the night before. His sold in a couple of hours. Lesson learned.

There's been rumors of them going under for the past several months including allegations from a supposed former employee. But they're still chugging along. I got my EPL this evening.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they are raising capital to fund projects. I don't think it's a very big operation at all. So I could see that and them getting swamped fast.

What are your thoughts on the EPL?  Mine is in the mail and I'm excited to put it through the paces...

I haven't shot with it yet. Just kinda messed with it a bit.

1. It's very well built
2. The candela/beam is excellent it has a good hotspot but it isn't so bright it washes stuff out.
3. The spill is also great. It really lights up the surrounding area well.
4. I like the switching. Way better than Surefire and better than Streamlight. I need to check and see if the other paddles aren't so close to the frame. I have mine on a G34 and I can work the paddle, but it's close to the frame.

Just my initial thoughts. I'm sure I'll have more eventually. I plan to go do some low light shooting with it soon.
