| It’s cast. As others have said Olympic used them as did Eagle arms, DPMS and other others in that very early days. Most likely all manufactured by the same place. I think I read at some point that SGW Wyche later became Olympic was the supplier for many barrels. I don’t know if that’s true but they’re essentially the same by looks. SGW barrels were stamped with the caliber marking just forward of the FSB. Your doesn’t have that so I would assume what I’ve read. It was a barrel assembly from one of the other manufacturers I mentioned. |

Yes, gun show barrel mid to late 80's, giant feller with a big beard sold alot of military surplus parts had alot of those barrels, I should have got a pencil barrel off of him too just for the cast front Sight post with the raised direction markings, (601 project,lol) I also got the 20" H-bar 1 x 12 twist barrel off of him that I posted On here a few weeks ago. |

I had one blow a tiny hole out of a spot of the gas path metal. it was on a BFI converted machinegun with a 10" barrel. Gun had been running fine then started having problems. I must have tried a dozen fixes trying to get it back running before I finally notice the little hole in the cast base. |

You should post more photos of both guns. Some of us old guys like to see the "retro" parts from that time period (late 80s & early 90s), when some of us first got into ARs. |
