| Can a FRT drop into a Palmetto State Armory lower receiver without problems? I am curious if these things have a practical application to a self defense rifle? |

Welcome fellow firearms enthusiast! PSA lowers are standard pattern, and will accept a number of different types of FRTs. The key to reliable function is the buffer and spring. I run a Rare Breed in two rifles. I use a Geissle H3 and 42 braid spring in both, and I would feel confident in a battle with them. My Lima Six has the suggested H3 and Springco orange setup. It runs like a raped ape. The FRT is a Arc Fire V2. Lima Six is up to 20K on some test units, and the FRTs are chugging along. |

People have already answered the first part of your question. As to the second, unless you have the possibility of having to hold off a screaming hord of howling madmen, no. Full auto and really fast semi auto is over rated except for burning up ammo and inducing a huge grin. JMHO |

Some of the older PSA lowers were high shelf and FRTs won't work in them without milling down the pocket in the rear, Two of the three PSA lowers I have are high shelf. The one that isn't high shelf has an Aero Precision prefix. A friend has bought a few H&R lowers this year and those are low shelf. |

I have 2 high shelf PSA lowers and one of the guys I shoot with also has a high shelf PSA lower but the pocket behind the selector is cut a little farther back. Ours work great with no filing needed. I know that Rare Breed will ship to FL even if FS 790.222 says they shouldn't. AS Designs says "you can't possess the Super Safety or ARC-Fire" if you live in FL. They don't actually say they won't ship to FL though. I'm curious because my son still lives there and is interested in these. |

People have been thrown under the bus for making very minor modifications to firearms used in self defense situations. There was a guy who modified a Hi Power magazine lock to improve the trigger pull. He was thrown under the bus by the prosecutor which helped to secure a guilty verdict in a self defense case. Modifications can be used against you. |
