I sent a RMR back and they assured me that it was inspec for tritium brightness, but offered to refurb it for ~250 if I wanted. I'd have confidence they'd do you right. |

My opinion, I wouldn't bother... my ACOGs, (when new) you needed a pitch black environment to see that the Tritium was doing anything at all. If it's that dark, you'll need a white light to see the target anyway, and the reticle will be silhouetted on the target. |

One of those rem covers is infinitely more useful than paying $300 so you can faintly see you reticle in the dark. |

My 27 year old TA01 still has usable illumination in low-light, but yes, it is pretty dim at this point. For my Trijicon Reflex sights, I have attached LED lights to their fiber optic light collectors. Seems to work just fine, albeit definitely not durable enough for military use. I bought an ACOG ECOS off the EE a few years ago. The T was dead when I received it. Emailed Trijicon and they asked for the S/N and responded with a RMA. They did not charge me anything.Attached File |

I believe the warranty is 15 years. The ECOS models have only been around for something like 20 years so yours probably was still under warranty. |

I bought the cheapest, saltiest TA11 you ever saw. Spray bombed, cracked light tube, dead tritium,scuffes on the lenses. But still worked well and i was ok with it. Eventually i noticed what looked like fugus on one of the lenses. This is a common problom on camera lenses so i know what it looks like. Probably the seals had leaked on the ta11 and the nitrogen leaked out. Optic still worked great. But i contacted trijicon for a rma. When they got it they replaced the light tube, both lenses and one adjustment assemble (erector?) for free. I could have gotten new tritium and the reticle swapped but it would have been about $300 so i skipped it. So other than dead tritium i got basically a mechanically new optic. |

The reticle is etched into the lens so in that regard it will last forever. With the fiber optic model, you should in theory be able to use it forever in day light as it is operated by the light. It's just that during the nights or low light conditions, you might have issues but regardless the etched reticle is always present and visible. With that said my oldest ACOG is a TA01 that I purchased in 2010 timeframe. I didn't really think it was bad today but I have a comparison model of a TA31RCO that if I go into a completely dark room I can compare the two and see the TA01 is much dimmer that I thought. It works fine during the day and at ranges. I called Trijicon and they told me it was 500 bucks, not 200 so I decided not to do that. |

I sent my 1st Gen reflex (also called as ACOG) back last year for an overhaul and relamp. Cost about $200... I recently saw on the forum that another guy wanted to send his back, and Trijicon considers them obsolete and no longer services them. Meprolight makes a similar device still in production. |

I'd have confidence they'd do you right. Sure wish they'd have fixed mine instead of sending both of them back with a comment they were dirty and needed to be cleaned. I almost left one on a range gun as they worked well enough in the sun but then one day it was cloudy and I was under the overhead cover on the firing line and it didn't really work in those conditions. I must have had a guy so new he couldn't find the tool box open mine up to take a look at them. Oh yeah, a guy so new he didn't have any more experienced help. |
