Forgive any ignorance here, but when did CA allow pistol AR's? What are their rulings as far as features go, that I could read up on and stay up to date with?

We can acquire AR PIstol through PPT ONLY.. and Have all the “Evil Features” aka Pistol Grip, Flash Hider, Shoulder thing that goes up, and it has to be Mag Locked.. I would go on but it’s complicated lol.. Just KNOW California is very strict with on AR Pistols.. Not giving Legal Advice, BUTTT I’ll add that most people go out and buy a Franklin Armory CA7 (Bolt Action Repeater) aka pull charging handle back after every shot.. I know I know sounds stupid, and build or convert the upper to semi auto.. But that’s like in the Grey Area..

Thanks for the info.

Was your 723 upper assembled already or did you do it yourself? I have the A1 rear sight parts kit on backorder but if someone else has them right now, I would be very happy to order ASAP.

My M16A2, M4, and 733 clones. Not clone correct to the OCD levels of some of ya'll, but good enough for me. They have Larue MBT triggers since I bought a bunch on sale. The A2 is dear to my heart since that is what I had in the army 96-98, besides the M249.

love that A2!  I'm having a hard time deciding if my next build will be a 20 inch or another carbine.  I have a LMT nos stripped upper on the way so I need to figure it out fast.

Build a 20", especially if you don't have one yet. Variety is the spice of life and all that.

It doesn't matter what we think, it matters more what you the owner thinks.

Is that extension in the raw or painted to look that way?

I've done a few back in the day. These are all old but still cool to look at..

I always felt this one was a nice blend of old and new (well new'ish at the time)...

This one turned out perfect fit and finish wise. Nice shooter too. Those 20"ers are soft shooters

This was 1 of my first builds and first middy...

My son liked that one so for Christmas, he got a box of parts so we could build this one together...

I found a mint condition N1-style stock at a gun show this weekend.  My BCM lower/Doublestar upper combination used to have all the tactical goodies on it, but after finding that stock I couldn't resist putting it back to pseudo-CAR15 form.  I'll save the optics and fancy shit for the Colt 6920.

I started with my first AR rifle in 1971 Colt AR-15 Sporter SP1 with a carry handle then Colt Sporter II, Colt Sporter Target Model, Colt Sporter Lightweight.

My last current two AR with fixed carry handles is this Sporter Lightweight 6830 7.62X39 (1993) and a USGI M-16A2 Colt upper half I got way back in 2005.

USGI M-16A2 Colt upper half on Colt Match Target lower half.

RRA LAR-15 A4 9mm carbine which I built the lower half in 2006.

2011 Colt model SP6920 marked "SPORTER M4 CARBINE".

Made in 2016 Colt Expanse CE1000 detachable carry handle from my other Colt carbines.

[#38]

My last new upper half which I got last October Colt model R0901006CK AR-15A4 upper assembly without rear sight with Magpul MOE handguard, M-16 auto BGC and charging handle.

I replaced the handguard with my old A2 and installed one of my extra Colt detachable carry handle.

Kind of, this '93 7.62X39 cal. sporter had a slotted screw pivot pin from the factory, the hole is mil-spec size 0.250" and the detent spring hole was drilled, also the vent hole.

All I did was to install a captured mil-spec pivot pin, detent spring and detent, I have a pivot pin installation tool so it was easy.

Nice, that's a great looking collection

These are the last two photos that I have. Colt model LE6920 made in 2012 came with factory detachable carry handle, square forge mark (Brass Aluminum Forging Enterprises).

Colt model AR6721 carbine marked "AR-15A3 Tactical Carbine" with HBAR heavy contour barrel 1/9 twist made in 2010 with factory detachable carry handle, square forge mark.

I only have a total of 8 AR (2 with fixed carry handles), my four detachable carry handles are moved around my 6 flattop uppers without any optics mounted on them.

That looks like a slightly modified version of the KZ carry handle mount that everyone wanted a few months ago and apparently is out of production.

So yes, I'd so do a review.

Cost is $105 shipped via USPS 2/3 day shipping.   These are all 6061 T6 anodized aluminum and carry a 1 year warranty.

Long ago I wanted to buy the Kley Zion Aimpoint T1 Carry Handle Mount but was unable to find it anywhere.  So I set out to have a batch made.  Took about 6 months with prototypes, redesigns, testing and manufacturing but I did it.

I made an initial batch of 50 but only have 40 left.  Price is higher than KZ because well....it's just me and a small CNC shop.  My cost per unit made is significantly above that of the KZ price end cost.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

I cut my teeth on a M-16A1, so I'm biased ... Carry handles are my favorites.  I have many configurations ... A1, A2, CAR15, 605 clones +++.

However, thanks for all sharing ... your pics inspire me to use some stock piled lowers and some carry handle uppers!
