What is the smallest buis, giving the most clearance for an optic/acog? Seems like the kac micro or the arms 40l? And yes, buis is not needed, and yes, you can put it in front of the optic. But having the acog too far back makes it harder to work the charge handle anyhow. |

Grab and pinch the handle from the side, no need in rooting up under the optic to pull the CH. KAC micro is super small as is the Magpul Pro. |

Griffin made some Fail Safe sights back in the day. My son and I like them for his light weight build with a PA 5x. I don't think they make them any more @Green0?

| A guy didn't like them and told us that at Shot show maybe 10 years ago. I don't think they infringed any IP, because his patent pertained to use of M16-A2 sight parts in specific bases that accepted M16 sight components, but we decided to stop selling them and went a different direction with the product into the current M2 sights that fold. They have a smaller footprint than the original fail safe sights. |

Magpul pro, KAC Micros, Griffin Armament are all good options. The MBUS gen3s I think are designed to be slimmer but not quite as slim as the pros. |
What it boils down to is that they fear an effective resistance to their power: So, Left in power=Guns bad, mmmmkay...?, Right in power=Guns good!-thskirk

My go to for a low pro rear BUIS was always the KAC 300, but the last rifles we got at work had MBUS Pros and I really liked them. I tried out the Scalarworks rear recently, and while I like their mounts, didn't care for the rear sight. I think they could have done a better job with the adjustment knob and then made the sight base a little flatter. |
