I have several rifles I'm going to put FRTs in, but they have semi auto BGGs. They are very good, chromed BCGs and I would like to still use them. Does anyone make something that will convert a carrier to a FA profile..? |
I don't need therapy. I just need someone to rob me at the gas station so I can let it all out.

This got me thinking and i went looking. There is one on thingiverse called the AR-15 Bolt Carrier Conversion. Its a two part plug that goes into the rear of a bolt carrier. I printed one in PLA to see if it fit. It worked with an Arcfire V2 and some RADs that I 3d printed but it didn't like the Partisan Disruptor. I ran into this problem with a bushmaster M4 that came with a semi auto carrier and carbine buffer. Instead of buying a new carrier and buffer I purchased a KAK Dead Blow Carrier. For me, it worked but had a lower rate of fire, I need to try it out in other setups more thoroughly. Save yourself the headaches associated with "conversion" gimmicks and get an M16 carrier. The "converters" tended to come loose and shift position no matter how tight you got them. The one shown below is a old Bushmaster unit I bought back when M16 carriers were hard to come by.  |

way back when I designed and 3d printed my own plug, but apart from a quick test fire, i dont use it at all, and in fact removed it from the carrier. My concern was that despite being press fit or even using a cross-shaft to secure it, it could shift forward (shifting rearward was not possible due to the design and the force of the buffer) either by loosening or breaking, and shifting forward could adjust the timing inducing hammer follow and potentially oob. proper complete carriers are so cheap now, no reason not to just replace them out and keep the old AR carriers as spares. |

If you are going to go with the suggestions of just buying some new FA carriers, might as well get the new KAK DBC carrier with the built in sliding weight which allows you to use standard carbine buffer and spring-reducing the FRT tuning with H2 and/or H3 buffers and heavier springs that you usually have to do.
