So I have a couple of lowers coming.
I think I want to do a 6.8 SBR. I see like anything else AR there is a ton of different barrel lengths. 10.5, 11.5, 12.5 For those that have build one, what barrel length did you use and why? Thanks. |

RE: 6.8 SPC II: This is a long story, but in short the SPC chamber that went to SAAMI from Remington was not the one that was used on the prototype. It was messed up in that you could build a round to spec but it might not fit in the chamber (due to a Remington fuck up). The SPC II chamber fixed the problem and is closer to the original idea. Think of it as a M16 5.56 chamber vs a match .223 chamber - in that it can handle high pressures better. |

Bison amory is pretty good, I have an 11.5 from them and a pair of 12.5 Kreiger barreled custom rifles. Get a headspaced bolt while you're at it.
Shoot me a PM if you're thinking of buying one, I'm planning on selling the 11.5 because we don't use it much, its had less than 100 rounds through it. |

6.8 was originally meant to perform with a 14.5" as an upgraded M4. Since I didn't want a pistol at the time - no braces existed - and $200 for a tax stamp was a bit of an extravagance much less the delays involved for what would be a deer rifle, I went 16" midlength. The extra 1.5" over M4 makes it easier to transport vs an SBR, legal in more jurisdictions, and offers a wider range of options. I first built it as an A1 dissipator with A2 fore end held on with an Armalite clamp on FSB, then later changed it up to a Minimalist with Gator Grip free float. This brings up a specific issue I created - the dissipator with rifle buffer worked great, switching it to carbine immediately caused failure to eject and double feeds. I decided the 6.8 simply has more power, and it takes more buffer to slow the cyclic speed. To do that, an H2 or H3 may be necessary, same as CRANE specifying that as a remedy for the Mk 18 in 10.3". I have tungsten weights inbound and will start with H3. YMMV. |

I have an 11.3" Wilson Combat barrel in my pistol. Currently waiting for the Form 1 to SBR it to come back.
Got the barrel here on the EE

Mine is complimented by a Saker 7.62 and has dropped hogs, whitetail deer and antelope. Longest ranged rest supported shot was 305 yards on a whitetail. I have a self imposed limit of 325 based on bullet terminal performance. Good luck with your build regardless of what barrel you choose. |

Wow... I wonder if the person who made that rule also gets upset when the owners of google, Facebook and Twitter curb search results in favor of liberal media outlets ban gun channels, and block conservative content.
Also, my brother in law has an 11.5” SBR in 6.8 and he’s very happy with it. Can’t remember if it’s bison or Wilson. But mine is a 12.5” AR16 preformensce and I love it. Erick at blakc ztohne armz is awesome to deal with too. Edit: 11/25/19 23:30 EST: wow they actually deleted my earlier post that named the banned barrel maker. That’s pathetic. The gun community is supposed to support the bill of rights and ALL of the amendments. Especially the 1st. I’m blown away that this site would act like twitter, Facebook and google and be biased and block counted they don’t like. The moderates of arfcom are fascists. How ironic and sad. |
