So a month or so ago I was looking to build a 12.5” 6arc and was leaning toward a Noveske. I took some advice from here, no blame to anyone, and went with a BRT, Centurion was also recommended. I have had issues from the start with this barrel. It does not want to feed completely. I’ve had rounds getting stuck in the chamber not allowing the bolt to close. I emailed BRT and they told me that it was most likely because my seating depth was too long and I should measure to the lands and start 20 thou off. I was loading mag length at the time. Ok, so I measured with Berger 105’s, Hornady 108’s and Berger 109’s . Then I loaded up rounds to do load development with all 3 based off the barrel measurements. I full length sized and checked them all with a case gauge using new Nosler brass. I started with a clean barrel and had no problem for about 25 rounds then it started happening again. Stuck so bad I was mortaring using both hands on the charging handle again. I Took the same rounds giving me problems and shot them in my Seekins and proof barreled 6 arcs I had with me no issues. I emailed BRT again, now twice this week and received no response. Which does not inspire much confidence in me. Does anyone have any idea what may be going on with this situation? I’m about ready to shit can this idea. |

Gotta be frustrating... not many things worse than a problematic build. Hope you get it figured out... reloading components are not cheap and it sucks to waste resources figuring things out. ETA- if you're shooting suppressed the only thing I can think that would cause a issue AFTER some rounds have been fired would be a tight chamber that doesn't like getting dirty. |

I have bumped the shoulder back .003 and fits easily in a case gauge. I do shoot suppressed and the chamber is dirty but after 20-25 rounds that’s just unacceptable to me. I’ve never had this issue with another barrel. It’s also frustrating that BRT has not responded. |

I think it has a tight chamber as well. Shoots factory ammo and resized Hornady brass fine, but ejecting a live round takes effort. My brand new Nosler brass that passes a case gauge both sized and loaded, won't even chamber. the Necks loaded are .015" larger than Hornady but still .029" under max size. That’s good info to know. The first ammo I used in this barrel was reloaded Hornady brass and it too gut stuck right off the bat. They did email me back today and told me it could be a tight chamber “The 6ARC chamber is tighter than most other cartridges in the freebore and throat area, which doesn’t leave much room for error”. They asked me what ogive I was at and had I tried factory ammo. I emailed them back what I measured to the lands and what I loaded. Also that I would pick up a box of factory ammo and try that. I’m not about to buy just factory ammo though. Kind of a bummer. |

They think they know where in the chamber there might be an issue and can fix it. They want me to send some of my Nosler brass loads with it. |

Well, it looks as if I’m the issue. Shot 18 rounds of factory 108 eldm’s and all was good. Came home and rook some 108’s I loaded and 3 out of 5 loaded but the other 2 failed to seat all the way. My hand loads are shorter in ogive length, overall brass length and neck diameter. The only thing that is larger is the base width. Factory is .438 and I am .440, but so are some of the ones of my 108’s that would load. I’m tired of messing with it. Think I’ll put it up on the EE with a disclaimer. |

There appears to be a spec problem with the 6 ARC, at least as far as Clymer Reamers and Hornady are concerned. In order to get factory Hornady ammo to chamber in our barrels, we had to push the head space way deep, to the absolute maximum of the Clymer no-go gauge. We're talking another .0005" deeper, and the bolt would spin on the no-go gauge. That's where it needed to be, so Hornady ammo would chamber. It does not appear to be an issue with the throat dims since the bullets are not hitting the rifling. So...somebody's shit is out of spec. I don't know if it's Hornady or Clymer. There's not a enough sales to even dick with it, so we just discontinued the 6 ARC barrels and moved on. Tony Rumore Tromix |
| Finally got to shooting it. Shoots great! Puts 3 rounds of factory ELDMs into an inch is usually less. Shoots just a hair looser than my other barrel of the same make, but this one just has a 1-10 and the other has more rounds through it to polish it up too, so probably. Definitely a shooter with factory ammo. |
