I have an Armalite ar10a2, a fixed carry handle weapon. The rear A2 style sights doesn't have the 8/3 marking in the dial, like an m16a2. When zeroing this rifle, do I just use the lowest setting which is between 3 and 4? That's as low as it goes. If I zero it at that setting, what range should I zero it at? 300 yards is a long shot.

I zero all of my high-power rifle iron sights at 200 yards using a 6 o'clock hold on the NRA SR target.

I zero all of my scopes at 200 yards as well.

BTW - 300 yards is not a long way.

Bottom the rear sight, use a 6 o'clock hold on a 100 yard target, come up 3 clicks and adjust the front sight to get in the ten ring. For 1000 yards you may need to get a short post for the front.
