I know this is kind of a broad area, but I don't want to create a zillion posts for every variant. For more information about this ammunition, please visit the Federal website I am trying to solicit only information about your PERSONAL experience with this ammunition. If you haven't used it, then please don't clutter up the thread. Information about proper functioning (or lack thereof) is obviously the most important, but factors such as the accuracy or other peculiarities you've noticed are informative also. If you have had problems with this ammo which were severe enough to cause you to stop using this ammo, then please describe them. |

| I have shot several thousand rounds of AE FMJBT through my RR M4 type and a DPMS M4 type rifle without any issues. I have noticed a ammonia smell but nothing terrible. Seemed accurate enough. I paid $2.99/20 about 3 years ago but I have not purchased any since. |

I have run many thousand rounds of Federal American Eagle .223 through my AR (20" A2 style). I've had some that was FC commercial headstamped and some that was LC with the NATO cross. Seems all loaded to the same (moderate) level. No problems, accuracy what you'd expect from value priced ammo, decently clean and not too smelly. Brass is good for reloading. Its reasonably priced at my local Sportsman's Warehouse ($3.99 a box with a $1 discount per 5 boxes). I will definitely buy more as long as they have it in stock. The only value priced ammo I prefer over this stuff is Winchester white box, when I can find it. |

We fire many tens of thousands of rounds of the 55gr AE through our SWAT team Colts (M4's and M16's) and department patrol rifles (Bushmaster Dissipator) every year. We rarely experience any ammunition related problems. I have fired over a thousand rounds of the 55gr AE through two RRA's that I own with no problems. |
+1 at 200 rds through an A3M4 with 14.5 inch chromed lined 1/8 barrel. Great accuracy for moderately price ammo but the Ammonia IS heavy. |
| Just finished third case (3000 rds) of the Federal AE223. Had mixed head stamps of: FC/223 Remington, FC/05, and Lake City. All shot out of a DPMS M4, Bushmaster Varminter or Bushmaster Carbon 15. Clean burning, as accurate as any other economy ammo and excellant reloadable brass. And the small boxes make it easy to store 500 rounds per 50 cal ammo can. At $3.99 per bx, it's the best buy I have been able to find. |
| 1000 rounds of AE 62gr FMJBT worked, shot great in my Colt Match Target. 1 round out of the thousand did pop a primer into the fire control group. Turned the rifle up-side-down and the primer fell out. I also reloaded the brass of the AE and it all shot well for a the normal amount of loadings. Hit a coyote at 120yds, must have tumbled and yawed really well, there was a quarter size chunk missing at the exit wound. That was all back in 2001. |

| Have shot over 500 rnds of the AE 55 grn through my ADCO built 18" SPR in the past month and have had no problems what so ever. Surprisingly accurate and shot a 3/4" 5 shot group at 100 yrds today from the bench today. Not to shabby for non-match ammo.. was actually shocked. |
| I've been using this stuff for 3 gun matches for a while now. I also used it in my M16. I've probably gone through 4,000 rounds. This stuff is accurate enough to hit a larue at 330 yards. I've only had one round not go bang (bad primer) but I'll continue to use it if I can find some. |

American Eagle AE223G 50 grain jacketed hollow point Olympic Arms 20" A2 with stainless 1:9 barrel 100 rounds No problems with this ammo at all. Accuracy was good as well, but only fired at up to 100 yards with open sights. I will buy this again, but will be using it in a bolt-action rifle with a slower twist rate at longer range. However, it is good to know that I can use it in the AR if necessary. Hessenfesser |

I bought 1k rounds of the 63gr, SP, with the LC head stamp. My local Cabela's has tons of this stuff in stock (at least 50 cases). It runs great in my Colt 6520, and Bushy/Stag/DPMS/? mutt. Accuracy is good, and 1k rounds down range provided no failures. I plan to buy another 2k next week for my plinking stash. As a bonus I will have a huge pile of LC stamped brass to reload when I'm done. I'm a brass whore  .

1) Ammunition used: American Eagle 55grn stamped LC03, LC04, LC05 and LC06. 2) Firearms used in: 11.5", 14.5", 16", 18" and 20" AR's 3) Number of rounds fired: Probably around 8000 rounds combined American Eagle has worked wonderfully for me, no malfunctions what so ever. I've chronoed the LC04 and LC05 stuff at 2980 fps through my 14.5" upper. It's the only factory ammo I use these days, I trust it 100%. |
| I shot some of the red box stuff out of a RRA 16" carbine. Fairly accurate but what surprised me for .223 ammo I was getting an average of about 3038 FPS over a cheapy chrono. As a comparason, I also shot some commercial .223 55gr FMJ commercial "equivalents" the same day/ chrono and same RRA carbine, I was getting an average of 2865 FPS on Winchester USA223R1 and 2804 FPS on Remington UMC. When I buy more commercial 55gr FMJ .223, I will be buying the Federal AE223.... |

I buy it whenever my friendly local Bi-Mart gets any on the shelf. Never a problem into or out of the gun. Some have complained about the ammonia smell, but I don't get any ammonia smell from any of the ammo I shoot. |

I have shot roughly about 500-600 rounds of a combination of 50 grn hollow point and 55 grn fmj. Fired from a 16 inch 1:7 twist upper from CMMG. No issues, no problems from firing this ammo. I still use it. ETA On my last us of this ammo I had one round (FMJ) out of about 100 set back on me. It was fed from a MAGPUL P-Mag into the rifle listed above. Also the receiver and the barrel both have M4 cuts. I will still use this ammo. |

| I have shot 200 rounds of the Federal .223 through a mid-length CMMG rifle with 16" barrel. No problems, ~ .50" groups at 25 yards, but there was a distinct ammonia smell. The brass had FC 08 headstamp, and the primers had a blue sealant. Picked up another 200 rounds today. Headstamp was FC 223 REM, and the primers did not have any sealant. |
