For starters, I have built many 80%, four different platforms. I retired my Modulus jig after this build, in question because you cannot seem to get parts. I have since bought an 80% arms jig. The last build I did with the Modulus started with a forged 7075T6 80% lower. It is a 16” chf build. Pretty much every part is top shelf, at least all the parts that matter. The problem is, the one selector hole bushing on the jig is worn the F out! My Selector switch side hole is a little too large. For clarification, this build has been 100% reliable, with a milspec trigger, and safety. There is just a little slop in the selector. The problem is, I tried to install an AS Designs Arc Fire. A little slop, turned into a lot of slop. More slop than what I can deal with. I guess what I’m looking for, are ideas. Is there any way I can effectively repair this with some kind of bushing? Or should I just trash this lower, and start over? I would really rather try to fix it, because the detent side of the hole is not the side thats compromised. That side of the jig, the bushing was in better shape. I really am not looking forward to machining another 7075 lower.. |

Using jigs, I'm guessing that you don't have access to a mill? Ignoring the "how" of it, the left side should not be as bad to deal with. A bushing is the direction I'd look first. Combine a friction fit and some loctite red or green, and I doubt it will come loose. Unless, of course, you have a friend with pro grade welding abilities. De-Big-ify the hole and re-drill. I've experimented with using JB Weld Steel Stick to build up bad areas before re-shaping them. I'm not sure I'd trust that here. Edit - there's a metalworking forum here too - low traffic but good guys. |

I do not have access to a mill, so I guess I will take a spare selector to the hardware store, and try to find a sleeve that I can make work. Thanks. |
