| Are there AR10 barrels any good? Picked up a blemish upper in 308 awhile ago that’s sitting collecting dust. If it’s good for 500 yards or less, may do something with it. Or, could just sell it. |
| Why kind of shooting are you going to do at 500 and in ? Hunting? Plinking? If so then yes it should suit your needs. If accuracy is desired then there are better barrels. When buying barrels your playing/paying for the odds of getting a good to great barrel that maintains it's accuracy while hot and dirty. Aero barrels can shoot pretty well but the odds of you getting one for shooting maximum accuracy and consistency is not nearly as great as the more expensive barrels. There is a reason Aero barrels costs far less then other brands. |
If a 147 grn 9mm at 1000 FPS is the hammer of Thor then a 165 grn. 40 at 1200 fps must a lightening bolt from Zeus!

Aero bought Ballistic Advantage a couple three years ago. So yours may be a BA barrel. I've heard that they're hit or miss, no pun intended. But my personal experience with one AR 223 barrel and a 6mm bolt blank I had made into a 6gt have been great. The 223 AR shoots sub minute with my handloads most days, but the 6gt shoots lights out. My handloads that I went with shoots 1/2" 5 shot groups regularly. Hitting MOA sized targets out to 800 yards is easy. I have a 6 creedmoor on the way and I'm excited to see how that one shoots. |

Why not shoot it first to see how it actually shoots before doing anything? I have two BA .223 W barrels, 16” and 20”, and they do very well with 72 gr. OTM, holding 1.75-2.25” for 5 shots at 200 yards, so, right at MOA. I don’t understand why you would want to trash a barrel because of a few internet remarks about it might possibly be bad without ever having tested it. |

I bought a 16" 308 upper from AeroP back in 2014- it came with a Shaw 1:10 SS barrel. Over the range of 147 milsurp to 168 oem match ammo tested in it, it is 1.8 avg MOA but likes the 168 fodder at an average 1.0 moa. The best so far was .75 moa |

The best accuracy at 100 yards using match ammo that I got with Aero M5 .308 was around 1.5 MOA, but that was exactly once. Average was more like 2-2.5MOA. Technically meets milspec standards for battle rifles, but I had it set up as DMR so it wasn't that great. I sold it so I can save up for a better quality factory AR-10. |
