I've owned several: -Aimpoint G2; bought sometime around '80. Worked as advertised. -Aimpoint MkII; bought sometime around '84. Worked as advertised for a good many years. Only required one battery change the whole time. The self-adjusting brightness function continued to function even after its sensor housing got cracked. -Aimpoint CS; bought '09; continues to work as advertised. That being said, I've had to say goodbye to these, as my eyesight isn't what it used to be. |

With the fear of feeling stupid, this is my public service announcement.
Unit armorers and commo guys always remove my batteries and it gets annoying to always replace them when heading to the range or the field. they do it because battery acid can cause corrosion. Well I have always done this before deployments, but I forgot to on my comp-m4 this last trip. Got home and battery corrosion was covering the cap area and i can't get the battery door/cap unscrewed. optic isn't working and I started to mawl the surface trying to unscrew it. Great optic just don't be a dumb ass like me. |

Always use the Li AA batteries in my M4 to avoid a cheap alkaline ruining my Aimpoint.
M2 - ~6 yrs., lots of use but nothing serious or rough, just started noticing the dot fading out on recoil. I switched the battery, but I'm thinking the problem will persist since the new battery doesn't produce a brighter dot on any setting. Smacked the sight a few times and couldn't recreate the problem (I know, I'm quite the scientist). Used 90% on AR and 10% on FAL. M4 - ~2 yrs. No problems, all on AR ML3 - ~2 yrs. No problems, all on AR R1 - ~2 months. No problems, on a 629PC 44mag R1 - ~2 months. No problems, FAL |
| I have a T1 that I purchased in 2009. I've used it in a Magpul class, training on my own and it rides around in my truck and been beat to hell. I've never had a single issue in two years. |

We have several training guns with T1's and LT mounts that Clasky keeps dropping from waist high to the deck optic side down at numerous shows for demonstrations....Still working and shooting POA/POI after a few years now and never turned off btw. |

I have multiple M2s. These were all bought from the EE and were not beat up. The rheostat went on one of them in 2007 (?) , causing the brightness on the dot to remain very bright even on the lower settings. Even though I was not the original owner and not LEO/MIL, Aimpoint was kind enough to replace it for me for free. |

I have owned alot of aimpoints, and used them in combat...no issues.
where the hell do I find the new aimpoint PRO!!!???? want one for my lightweight.... |

Put it this way. I bought a used M2 that had a flaky switch on it. I call Aimpoint support and asked about getting it repaired and how often they come across this issue. He said the switches are about the only thing that is prone to failure but also noted he is the only one doing repairs for all the Aimpoints in the US including the military. They only see a few of these issues with the hundreds of thousands they sell.
They repaired if for free and send it back with new flips ups. It took about 6 weeks but that wasn't to bad considering I only paid $100 for it. I just order one of the Aimpoint pro's. |

I have had a dozen Aimpoints since they hit the states own (4) T-1 Micros at the moment no problems...
The only problem I have had with any of them is with my 3000 serial number 602760 quit workin on me about 10 yrs ago never did get it fixed... Other than not working its in perfect shape I'm keepin it in case it becomes an antique |

I just saw this thread, My M2 had a switch went down and Aimpoint fixed it for free. 6 week turn around. I guess I had it 4 years when it went down... I'll dig in the archives to get the exact date and edit this post. |

Comp ML2 bought in 2005 (I think) - zero problems
Micro T1 bought in 2008 - zero problems Comp M4 bought used in 2010 off EE - zero problems Second Micro T1 bought earlier this year - zero problems but still pretty new 3x Magnifier bought earlier this year - zero problems, but to be expected - it's just a magnifier I leave all of my Aimpoints on all of the time set to medium brightness. Change the batteries on them each year or so (but that is probably overkill on most other than maybe the ML2). edit - spelling |
If you can't dazzle them with brilliance...riddle them with bullets...
Aimpoint H-1 FAIL! ![]() ![]() I just noticed today that my Aimpoint has issues. I have an Aimpoint H-1 where the LED is dim on setting #8. #8 is about the same brightness as #6, It is like going #6, #7, #6, #9. I sent Aimpoint an email. I can't find my receitpt, I bought it over the internet. Maybe I can contact them and they can send me another one in an email. Do you really have to have proof of purchase for them to fix the scope? I changed the battery and made sure the cover was tight, no joy! |

I have owned 3 Aimpoints since getting into ARs.
My first: ML2 bought in 2007. I had it for over 3 years with zero problems. I sold it to a friend to fund another optic. At that point it was still running on its factory battery. 2nd: An M4S I bought this January of this year. Zero problems. 3rd: An H1 Micro I bought in March. So far zero problems. |

I got my first Aimpoint, a Comp M XD in the 90's (maybe 1996?). I had used it a bit and stored it (neglected to take the battery out FWIW) for about a year. Next time I tried to use it, I discovered the switch had crapped out on me. Sent it back to Aimpoint and they fixed it after a few weeks. I still use it to this day.
ML2 purchased in 2004, heavy use with no problems. M4S purchased in 2008, moderate use with no problems. T1 Micro purchased in 2009, moderate use with no problems. Pair of R1 Micros I bought this year ($300 from Midway). Slight use, no problems. |
|
I bought a Comp M2 in early 2000. I still have it and it works great.
I bought a second Comp M2 used in 2003. It still works. I bought a ML3 in 2009 that was DOA because of an out of spec battery cap. Aimpoint sent me a new cap and it's worked fine ever since. |

Comp ML2 in Aimpoint's mount. Installed double battery module.
Purcased in 2004(?) Turn the unit off when not in use. Still on the original set of batteries, with back ups ready to go. Has been mounted on 10.5" AR, 2 16" ARs, 16" FAL, and MSAR. Been in the 120° Vegas heat for 3-gun and doused inthe rain and snow of the Tahoe area. Never faltered or had any problems. One of the guys I work with was an MP in Iraq and HATES Aimpoints based on his experience with beat-up issued units. |
| i own a comp m4.had it now for less than two years.its been great but has just fogged up.i use it daily at work hunting,on top a m4 carbine.it gets a fairly hard life.plenty of knocks and often wet for days on end.in saying that i dont think im overly hard on it.am surprized abit that it has failed. but i love it and am getting another one. |
| T-1, late 2009. No issues. It's seen 2 years of 3 gun matches, 2 carbine classes, and about 8,000 rounds. She's been retired now, I'm shooting a 1-4x scope now. I might just have to throw it on my MEGA .308 but it just seems wrong putting a 1x optic on it. |

Have had numerous M2's, a couple M3's and recently I bought a PRO. All ran fine except for the pro which crapped out with a hurry. Here's the story copy and pasted from another thread:
I bought a Aimpoint PRO new less than a month ago and after less than 200 rounds on my LMT AR15 and less than 100 on my LMT MWS it let loose. I was shooting my MWS when all of a sudden it was all over the place vertically. I tried adjusting it and it wouldn't move POI at all or it would move it wherever. Then I noticed with every shot the elevation adjustement was moving up and down. Now the elevation is very hard to turn and something is definitely loose and rattles when turning. The windage clicks fine and was holding POI left and right but when you turn it you can tell something isn't right in it.
I believe the scope was just a lemon, lets face it EVERY manufacturer out their sells bad units. My only problem with this failure was Aimpoints customer service. Everybody I spoke to including the repair guy (Al?) was rude as hell. I live less than 10 minutes from them but they wouldn't let me drop it off and would only let me send it in with fedex or UPS which I had to pay for and both of those places are 15-20 minutes from me. Not getting a return label on a almost new product that was a obvious lemon is unacceptable IMO. Why should I as a customer have to pay to send something back to get fixed that should have been right at the factory? I've always loved Aimpoint products but never had to deal with their customer service until now and after dealing with them I won't buy another one of their products. |

Ampoint M2, 10 years old, on a rarely used rifle.
Roraty switch want bad. Returned to Aipoint, 3 months letter they said it would have to go to the factory to fix (for TBD cost). I said fine. 3 months latter I find it under the bush (UPS leaves outside my garage door.) Sight is returned, no charge, problem just as bad as before. Aimpoint not retuning emails. Don't know if they can;t or won't fix it, didn't fix it p[roperly, or just made a mistake and returned it rather then send to the factory? |
