| I have an extra colt with a 20" barrel that I would like to put a piston system in. Any suggestions from wise folks that have done this before. It has a pinned front sight and OEM handguards. I understand that a free float handguard needs to be used. Does the bolt carrier cant when fired and hit by the piston rod? Does it affect the buffer and tube? Any other things necessary? I looked at the Osprey kit. I would like to know from those who have done this that would recommend one MFG over another. Any help appreciated. |

we are a 07 FFL. do a lot of custom work. piston systems always seem fine on pistol length & carbine. the rifle length systems we have done gave us the most amount of grief. just overall cycling problems. more tuning than I liked to make reliable. ONLY A FYI, disclaimer it may operate just fine. But, I now do not encourage customers to do this. the Superlative is a high quality system too. |

My brother has one and I have two Superlative kits- all mid-length. Get that as there's no need to worry about the buffer tube or any other parts that aren't otherwise included in the kit. The SA carrier has anti-tilt features built in and the rear of the carrier is chamfered. |
