A friend of mine picked this up from an ex Colt employee. It is interesting that on the Vietnam Colts, the “C” in a box, and the “VP” in a triangle were SEPARATE stamps, indicating that there were probably TWO separate inspectors. This must be a post Vietnam stamp where both proofs were manufactured onto the same stamp, so that just one inspector could apply both with just one “hit”. He does not want to sell it, but it was neat to handle it.

I only remember the barrel nut machine that timed and torqued the barrel nut in a single operation.
They also had a fixture set up for the front sight unit. Locked the parts in alignment, drilled the tapered holes, a "head" rotated, and then it set the pins in the same set-up while the parts remained locked together. |
