Czech 7.92mm Metak Sa Eksplozivno - Zapalijuim Zrnom EZ, or reloaded B-patrone. Headstamp: 11/*/55/*, silver tip. These were orginal German B-patrone that after 1953, Czech ammo factories reloaded with new Yugo cases, powder, and cap. Projectile still has white phosphorous in nose portion of bullet, that self ignites in open air and with no way of extinguishing. Big difference from these and orginal German B patrone is price. These $8-10 and WW2 B-patrone $20-25. Two different internals. wolfgang

Not really armor piercing, but has same properties. A spotter is usually shot out of a machine gun and explodes in a four foot cloud of smoke marking the spot of impact. ( where a tracer shows you the bullet trajectory) The old ones where made with white phosphorous and the newer ones are a powdered mixture that when strikes a target, either hard or soft, it will explode on contact causeing the cloud of smoke.
There is also incendiariy properties as most were shot at airplane fuel tanks which would cause them to explode. The orginal B-patrones were also used on the Russian front by snipers in the late days of WW2. wolfgang |
