My son gave me this upper, he couldn't get it running. Figured I'd give it a shot. I know uppers in 7.62x39 are plagued with problems so we'll see what happens. I think the two mags are ASC. He said the biggest problem he remembered was that it wouldn't extract a lot of times. I pulled the bolt apart and put an o-ring in with the spring. Gas port is currently .094, I have all the drill bits to open it up if needed. I'll update as I play. Attached File |
| Got out with it a bit today. Opened the gas port up to .110 while out, but that didn't get me to where I needed to be. It's better, but still not perfect. I should have brought more drill bits with me :(. I should mention I'm running a standard carbine spring and buffer. |

Wow. .110" gas ports is pretty large. Whatever powder being used must be pretty slow burning. But, that short of a barrel is probably going to be problematic. Try a slightly long barrel if possible. Like a poster above mentioned. Check the bolt from a known 7.62x39 AR and make sure you have the correct one. |
I hated going to weddings. All the grandmas would poke me and say "You're next". They stopped that when I started doing it to them at funerals.
