| I use only Duramag and all I have tried work fine. I tried one ASC and it didn't, so I decided to just trash it. However, I took the empty body back out of the trash can and saved it. That was a good move, because Duramag does sell springs and followers for all their mags. The ASC externally looks exactly like the Duramag and since the Duramag spring and follower are very inexpensive, I bought them to see if I can save the mag body. I have a bunch of dummy rounds so I'll be able to test it as soon as I assemble it - I'll post with results. |

I have Duramag and they work great and also have a few Unimags. They hold 25rds of 7.62x39 and work great. They are supposed to work with several calibers, but I've only shot 5.56 and 7.62x39 through them. After being loaded for a year+ they still function fine. The Duramag 30rd looks like some jungle modification in my XM177 pistol build. I run an Arizona regulator in this one and it rocks.

Because it was capable of feeding over a half dozen different rounds, they thought they should charge the price comparable to a half dozen magazines. The problem with that is they limit the appeal to primarily those who shoot so many calibers. Add to this if one gets damaged or unreliable, you are out the equivelent of a half dozen magazines. They would still be in business if they sold them for half the price and make a good profit. |

If I remember right 35 to 40 but lower priced on sale sometimes. Lot more uses and they were no worse priced than some name brand pistol mags are. I think I bought most of mine on sale different places for around 20 or 25 each which is not really that bad for a specialty magazine. I always thought the issue was not enough places carried them. |

Every time I checked them out they were about $40-$45 each. I just couldn't bring myself to buy them at that price. The $16 mentioned before, I would have happily bought several for that price. |

What happened to the CPD Gen 3 7.62x39 mags. 10, 20, 25 & 30 rounders??? They were basically the only one that worked when I built my x39 AR's years ago. |

I'm happy to report that ASC 20-rd mag body with Duramag spring and follower now works great. My dummy rounds were made for me by a great reloader 30 years ago using real components - fired brass casings and new bullets. I have the utmost confidence that this is exactly the same as using live rounds to fill the mag, lock in the rifle, load and eject over and over until the mag is empty and the bolt is locked back by the follower. I have done it in the past but I don't really like using live rounds for this - I yank that charging handle back and let it fly. I was really glad to find that Duramag lists these parts and they are not trying to get rich off of them. Its a first class operation. |
