| Would this set up work without any malfunction? I bought a buffer tube combo that came with an H1 buffer, so I figure I'll use it if it works with my set up. I am currently running a 7.5" PSA upper receiver, cryptic BCG, Geissele super charging handle. The lower receiver is a Franklin Armory CA7. I have an H2 buffer from Dark Storm Industries on the way! I was just wondering if the H1 will work. I know, there's only one way to find out, and that's to go to the range and test it out. I am asking ahead of time so that I can have the right buffer weight before hitting up the range. |

Generally speaking, super short pistol gas 5.56 uppers/barrels tend to be at least a bit overgassed with full power ammo. Short dwell time necessitates a larger gas port to ensure function across a wide range of ammo and the shorter pistol length gas system means much higher port pressure. I’d say doubly so for cheaper stuff from a larger scale manufacturer like PSA. They don’t want to field a bunch of warranty requests because someone’s upper doesn’t work with the cheapest, crappiest, lowest powered ammo they could find, so they hog out the gas port to minimize the possibility. It might function fine with an H1, but I’d bank on needing at least an H2 to get anywhere near ideal. |
