It isn’t truly an AR-10, but I’ve started a project around a V Seven 22” 1/8 poly barrel. Will be ammo and function testing. For commercial target loads, what’ve you all liked? Handloads and pix come later, probably late April. |
Pretty much focused on off-grid property, acquisition of needed things for an uncertain future, and lightening the load of things.

My ancient DPMS shoots nicely with the Hornady 140 grain HPBT sold in my area as the Hornady Black load. I also reload the Hornady 140 grain HPBT bullet over a mild charge of H414 (almost out, but I believe W760 is nearly a grain for grain alternative). Attached File |

I have the VSeven 22" stainless match barrel, mine's fluted. I use a similar target load as Scott (Hornady American Gunner 140 gr. BTHP) and it's quite accurate (for a range load). What's great about that load is it pretty much matches the POA / POI of Hornady 143 gr. ELD-X Precision Hunter if you want to use the gun for hunting, which is what I built mine for. And that ammo(143 gr. ELD-X) is absolutely stupid accurate out of that barrel. I don't have any group photos saved (need to fix that) but you will not go wrong with this ammo. Sighting in from a bench rest it is definitely sub MOA and I'm far from an expert shooter. The 140 target is slightly less precise but IIRC it's around 1 MOA out to 300 yards from the bench. |

I have the same VSeven barrel (22” fluted) so your info is more than I could have hoped for. It’s a demo barrel from Dark Hour Defense, stated round count is <200, so I’m rolling the dice a bit. It’s black gunkoted, I’ll hit it with FDE for reasons. Plan to at least test fire it by the end of April and will report back… |

Out my 6.5CM , 22" Criterion barrel PSA with accuracy tuning tricks applied, Hornady 140gr AG shoots great. Your results may vary, but get what I mean. See profile pic. |

My LaRue and BA 22” barrels have liked the Hornady American gunner and 140eld loads. The FGMM 130’s shot well, but were too hot for continued use in an AR. Handloads: Hornady 140 eld/hpbt, Sierra 142smk or Berger 130 OTM AR hybrids and H4350. Easy to get sub moa performance with those in Hornady brass and Fed 210/210M primers. Attached File |
