I was watching the Geissele automatics YouTube page and they said something about not using their two stage triggers and a pistol. Is the above reference gun considered a pistol?  My opinion is that it’s all the same internals as a 5.56 why wouldn’t it work. Please enlighten me. Thanks.

The ddm4 pdw is not an AR variant, it is an AR.  This topic is in the wrong forum.  

That being said, they're referring to pistols in the classic since, not "pistol" AR15s.  Their trigger will work fine in an ar15.
