| I much prefer metal duramags for 300blk. They hold the rounds tighter and allow for more reliable feeding with shorter OALs. I shoot a lot of the Speer 130 Varmint JHPs, the OAL is 2.05" and they will choke any plastic mags, even 300bll specifics. Same issue with the 110vmax and varmageddons |

I run (5.56) Lancers for 300blk and (5.56) Gen 3 PMAG's for 5.56...(well, I did when I shot 5.56) What you are saying makes logical sense, but the reason is two fold. 1. While I know it depends on the ammo, Lancer's don't have ribs like Gen3 PMAGS. Because of that Lancer's are the only ones (of the two) that can run Wolf Steel 300blk (that was discovered when Wolf Steel first hit the market pre-covid. It won't work with Gen3 Pmags). 2. I started with 5.56/PMAGS first, and this was long before the TMAGS were available. I put mag bands on both the mags and the uppers. I do own a single 20 round 300blk PMAG. |

I like visual and tactile indicators, so I can feel the difference as well as see the difference. All of my 300 blackout mags have caliber ID bands and are different brands than my 5.56 mags. If SHTF or bumps happen in the night I would rather have the additional layer of identification than to have a kaboom cause more damage to myself or my family than the bad guy. |

I use Lancers both standard and “300blk” ones. Have several thousand rounds through about 15 mags I’ve probably shot more 300 blackout than the average bear regularly. However in shoot almost exclusively supers. I use Lancers only for 300 Blk religiously Seen 1 or 2 people blow a gun up |

I only shoot 300BLK, both supers and subs, in AR's. My go to is standard plastic (Magpul mostly) and aluminum (Duramag mostly), designed for 223/556, for 300 BLK supers. They work just fine. The Lancers are ideal for subs and that is pretty much all I use them for. I have a couple of the 300BLK Magpul mags, and they work just fine as well. I just like the different look and feel of the Lancers. The Lancers are shaped in a way that feeds subs very well. All the 223/556 mags cause hang ups on the subs but work just fine on supers because the shape of the bullets and thus the interaction with the guide ribs in the mags is different. Since 300BLK subs and supers are very different, in terms of wanting different gun tunes to work well, having different mags for different types of rounds is handy for me. I keep strict control of my mags when shooting with others so if someone grabs one of my mags behind my back and is running a 223/556 firearm and gets a danger noodle, well, too bad. |
