The first 2 rounds are of the M14 API (top FA/46 ) and the M14A1 API (bottom FA/53), both have silver tips.
The M14 uses 2 grains of 1M-11 incendiary mixture and a boat tailed steel core (80 gr), while the M14A1 uses 8.5 grains and a flat based with conical tip steel core (62.5 gr). * API rounds with head stamps from LC/67 - LC/69 are RELOADS that were made by Wolf River Ammo plant. 
The next two rounds are: Marsh Coultier Flare, head stamp superX/ 30.06 sprg (top) commercial loading And a very early M1906 paper tip blank, head stamp FA/2/06 Note the "EC" fast burning powder (Explosive Company) charge as well as in the paper tip, sealed in shellac so to aid in the breakup of the bullet. (bottom)

30.06 in the title yet the photos were m14 ammo. You mean 30 cal? the flare bullet is amazing. whats its history/use |
