Building a 12.5 pistol. I've built 16" before but got a couple questions. I've got a aero lower in green and it's a sick color so I'm gonna stick with aero parts for upper and handguard. Their handguards are measured end to end so I would think that the 11.4" instead of the 12.7" would be the right choice? I'm gonna toss a huxwrx flash hider and a hux can on it. was thinking a geissele barrel and their h2 buffer/spring what else would you do if this was your build? Not looking to skimp on parts price wise (aero parts I know but I've have great luck with their upper/lowers) |

As i replied in your build it yourself thread, Yes, 11.4" would be the better of the two lengths to ensure you clear your muzzle device. The rule of thumb is no more than .5" less than the barrel length, so you're good to go. You just missed out on geissele 12.5" chf cl barrels for $249 at PA, sold out now. Regardless, i believe it would be a great barrel to get so much so that I got one on sale and am also building a 12.5" pistol around it. The rest is really to personal taste and budget. |

I think the a5 will give you like another inch in length if you need it. |

If it were my build, I'd install a RB5007 Kynshot hydraulic buffer, Tubb flat spring and A5 tube. amphibian recommended this setup and I'm very pleased with the dampening effect. If you want a std carbine length tube, get the RB5000 buffer. Not sure if you plan on adding a brace. I ended up with the below brace because it adjusts on a carbine tube similar to how a carbine stock does. It might run smoother on a A5, but I'm in the process of acquiring a Geissele 12.5 complete upper (out of lazy-ness) and I will go with the Geissele Super 42 and Geissele H3 (or whatever Geissele recommends). I just don't want to go through the pain in the ass process of trying to figure out the proper A5 setup. I did the same with a Super Duty 11.5" I put together, running a Super 42 and H3. On some builds (dedicated suppressed for instance) I've gone A5 with Sprinco Green spring an A5 H1 or A5 H2. It's just more expense and effort. Good luck on your build |
