Fill them with water and add food coloring. Let freeze overnight. Put in a cooler to take to the range. Cut off the plastic bottle and set the chunk of ice out at 100 yds. Shoot at them and watch them explode. Nothing to clean up. The plastic bottle you cut off gets thrown in a trash bag that you throw in the bed of your truck to haul off the next time to the trash. Hitting them with an M1 Garand of .303 British is a hoot. |
I hated going to weddings. All the grandmas would poke me and say "You're next". They stopped that when I started doing it to them at funerals.

The only hyphenated names I like are cartridge names......30-06, 30-40, 38-55 etc.

My dad was fond of the same thing with empty beer cans and his trusty 1911. Throw it as far as you can, shoot it until it comes apart or the pieces are too far to hit consistently… then send your kid out with a trash bag. |

I finally got out and tried the challenge today. Rifle is a 20" White Oaks upper with iron sights and a Rock River National Match lower. Reloads were made with CC1 41 primers, Sierra 69 gr match king bullets and 23.5 gr of Reloader 15. I shot a total of 6 targets. The black circle is 4.8" in diameter. 20 shots on each of the first 4. I figured once I had a miss that I might as well keep practicing. Target 1 has my first two shots labelled. On target 6, the one round outside the black to the left happened in the last 4 shots. You can only load 6 rounds at the state range I was using so I loaded magazines with 6 and 4 rounds. Attached File Attached File Attached File Center to center on the two shots farthest apart on target 6 is less then 5". I'll let you guys decide if this meets the goal of the challenge. I have a 6in steel plate and at 50 it’s no big deal. In all fairness I get to shoot at home quite and often. I’ve set it at 100 yards and it’s definitely much more challenging. With a scope at 4x not to bad. With my eotech so-so With a Aimpoint not so great |

Well I made it to the range today the weather was excellent, a little windy but enjoyable. 6" targets @ 50 yds offhand the rifle was originally a S&W M&P 15 , its had a few different barrels on it but now it has a Spikes tactical 14.5 ELW CL 5.56 barrel. The ammo is off the shelf Fed AE 55 gr 223 FMJBT. my favorite plinking ammo. Optic is a PA Nova 1x6 trigger is a RRA 3.5 lb Varmint 2 stage I did much better than my last attempt at 50 yds offhand. Fill them about half to 2/3 full, don’t freeze them but cap them, and shoot them in the bottom quarter. Done with a friend alternating shooting, highest water rocket wins. Also works Gatorade bottles. |
