I purchased a Unity TAPS SYNC from TNVC about two years ago. It sat idle for awhile. About six months ago, I started using it in earnest with my DBAL-A3, and very quickly thereafter the light/laser switch started causing the light to flicker. A lot. Like you had to mash the thing to get the light to full brightness. I did all the things, like cleaning contacts, replacing batteries, trying different lights, etc. This was definitely a problem with the switch. I contacted TNVC and they indicated that a small, but significant percentage of these units exhibited this behavior. I suspect that's why they were quietly discontinued. TNVC indicated they couldn't replace it, since they weren't the manufacturer and it was technically out of warranty (despite what sounded very much like a latent design problem with the product, rather than a specific unit failure), but offered to sell me an Axon at their cost. (TNVC rules, by the way, and you should absolutely trust them with your business.) I reached out to Unity directly, who tersely told me that the unit was out of warranty. Period. Full stop. I asked if this was a known problem and if they would be willing to do anything for me, and never heard back from them. Technically, they're within their rights according to their 1 year warranty. However, my impression is that Unity Tactical has absolutely no problem beta testing on their own customers (who pay quite substantial sums for their products, I might add) and then telling them they're SOL as soon as they can, even where there are latent design defects, as I suspect was the case with these units. I've found most high-end manufacturers in this space will work with their customers and do the right thing, regardless of what their lawyers say, but in my experience, Unity Tactical is not among them. Hopefully others' experiences are different, but mine wasn't great. Caveat emptor. |

I had a similar issue with a Unity Tactical switch. The dealer let me know a few months after purchasing it that some were bad, and recommended I test it (I had not installed it at that point.) It tested bad, and the dealer replaced it with a known good one from their stock. They dealt with Unity after that. I am surprised Unity did you wrong, since it was a known issue. I would try to escalate, or get TNVC involved. |

Probably wouldn't hurt to lean on TNVC a little- courteously, of course, cuz they're good folks- to see if they could add some muscle. Not the first time I've heard about something like this from Unity. I will not buy their products. |

This is a timely post as I was about to make a big order for my eotechs and magnifiers. Thanks for the heads up. Unity should eat their mistakes. Warranties are for inadvertent issues and poor workmanship, not bad engineering and design. |

That seemed so obvious to me that it didn't need to be said, but I'm not the one pumping out C+ crap at A- price points. Mea culpa, I suppose. |

I sell some of their stuff. I have had to return more of these switches than I can recall. Ive had to warranty 3 broken optic mount screws the last 6 months. They are using super cheap hardware. If theyre using super cheap hardware, this leads me to believe they are not using great components in their electrical stuff. |

Minor update: I sent my failing TAPS back to Unity Tactical directly. I didn't have an RMA (it's out of warranty), but I did include a cover letter indicating how disappointed I was in both the product and the support I received. That was months ago. I haven't received anything in return. Not even a form letter apology. At this point, I'm pretty convinced this is a mediocre Airsoft toy farm masquerading as a professional accessory manufacturer. Bush league. Total amateur hour. Might as well be cheap import crap sold on Amazon. |

I’m sure they just decided that you both mutually decided to fire each other, so looking for a reply from them seems weird. |
Your painted rifle is ugly, but I’m uglier, so send it to me and I’ll make it look good!

Maybe I grew up in a different era, but a lack of reply in this context indicates a lack of professionalism or seriousness. This isn't a social situation. For an entity marketing products for potential life-and-death situations, I think expecting some kind of engagement is reasonable. I'm open to being wrong. Cultures change. |

Bought a Unity switch a few years back and upon delivery it was nearly DOA. Light would flicker on and off. Emailed them and they requested a video. One they saw it they had me send it back to them on my dime and once they received it they mailed me out a new one. Fast forward to this year, that switch went to shit. Emailed them about the flickering on this switch and was kindly told to F off and that I had already received a warranty replacement once before and it was now out of warranty. Last time I buy anything from them. |

Last time I buy anything from them. This is part of why I've gone back to clickies and on-board fire buttons at this point. Unity has stood behind their products, but even I, not a "Tier 1 operator" have now had multiple switches and tail-caps with issues from them. They were not all premature failures either, but some occurred after a year or so. They were also not "innocent" failures, like it just stopped working, but stuff like the light turning on, button sticking, and being unable to turn the light off. That's kindof a big deal. |
| I had one of their switches that flickered and had a bolt on one of their risers snap well under the torque spec, airsoft is about right. |

Snapping one of their bolts below torque spec is wild. I would argue that anyone can have a defect, as that is obviously defective even by trash standards of random hardware store buys. |

Dont call it a comeback, Been here for years.

The TAPS switches were trash. The mod button/anything using a SF style connector was spotty, but thats because the design sucks and always has...I don't really blame them for this. The USB-C buttons and switches for me have been absolutely flawless. |

The USB-C buttons and switches for me have been absolutely flawless. I've had issues. The first run of gas caps had random failures (or I just got lucky and both the ones I bought did?). Then I had a Unity axon that worked great for about a year of super light range use. Then it began sticking and the light couldn't be shut off. Thats kindof an issue imo. I remember all the posts and conversations with people I've had who said "tapes break. They all do." And how I figured buying the latest wunderswitch would make me immune to that. It didnt. So, with my tiny sample size and humbling few experiences, I've changed my setups to buttons only. Old Attached File New Attached File |
