Quoted: Anyone getting a shipping confirmation for their Maxim RDB yet? I ordered mine yesterday and nothing yet. Wonder if they actually have them in stock and ready to ship. I also presume we are all in the 'gen 1' boat.....LOL. Ordered last friday...nothing yet. |

Quoted: My competition PCC is a CMMG RDB setup, but I also have an MP5 clone and a Scheel roller delayed buffer in another gun. I ordered one of the Maxim recoil assemblies and I will compare it to all of the above, as well as attempt to test it with my CMMG setup to see if it really is too much of a good thing. Roller delay your radial delay? Inconceivable! |

Quoted: Right but is no longer full auto capable and not tunable with buffers springs anymore Quoted: Quoted: The newer CMMG radial delay guns are seemingly shipping w/ a fixed ejector, which solves the ejector spring issue. Right but is no longer full auto capable and not tunable with buffers springs anymore I know you have to have full auto, but you're sadly less than 1/10 of 1% of the population, and your use case is still likely less than 1% of ARFCOM. |

If you look at the high speed video on my site. I am running a stock CMMG RDB in SEMI, that is running their recommended buffer and spring which I wasn't impressed with and have seen many posts saying the same. Then contrast that with the high speed video of my tuned CMMG RDB video which I also did in semi auto and you can clearly see how much smoother it is. |

Wish you would try out one of their new lowers w/ the fixed ejector, and post up if it's compatible w/ your modified carrier & how to modify it if so. I realize all of us have ideas on how to spend your money.

Quoted: Wish you would try out one of their new ![]() Pictures already there regarding the new Dissent upper and how the bolt is longer for the fixed ejector. Longer than a stanndard AR bolt or CMMG RDB bolt for that matter. I also posted in that thread that my slotted .40SW RDB bolt that I run in 9mm finally cracked. It has been through a lot or rounds in full auto. Regardless, this is why the CMMG RDB design didn't have a fixed ejector to begin with since there wasn't enough room to do it without weakening the bolt. Now on the Dissent, they moved the cam pin further back which could not be done with the existing bolt length. Another thing to note that as mentioned on my site, I had my .40SW bolt headspaced to my 9mm barrel to remove the headspace slop. Doing that results in a much smoother recoil impulse but it would no longer have the same impulse that appears to be required for the spring loaded ejector to work anymore. However with a fixed ejector this isn't a problem. That said, I'm wondering if CMMG removed all the headspace slop on the Dissent since the fixed ejector still has reliable ejection. The Dissent is expensive and I'm not going to put money into something that is not full auto capable AND not tunable. All that said, I'd be happy to do some high speed video of one to analyze the recoil impulse of one if someone wants to let me borrow one or meet up. |

Understandable what they did, pity it's so far off the reservation that now you can't easily make custom bolts for it. Still it would seem w/ a mill, the Dissent upper w/ the ejector, you can cut a slot in the tunable bolt carrier to get reliable ejection. |

Quoted: Still it would seem w/ a mill, the Dissent upper w/ the ejector, you can cut a slot in the tunable bolt carrier to get reliable ejection. That doesn't make sense to me since the Dissent uses a proprietary upper for their recoil spring assembly. I would say if you have a regular CMMG RDB and wanted a fixed ejector to just get the B&T fixed ejector parts mentioned on the UZITalk thread I posted above but even then this would only be for those that have full auto and want a slow smooth setup which is like less than 1% of the people out there. For the other 99%... 1. Large group that want a COMPACT setup and smooth: For a COMPACT smooth impulse 9mm AR pattern setup that don't care about tuning, I would think the two options are the CMMG Dissent and the Maxim Defense CQB with their new RDB assembly (assuming it works). Note as discussed earlier I have no idea if CMMG cleaned up the headspace slop on the Dissent vs the regular CMMG RDB so if they didn't the impulse isn't all that great IMHO for a delayed action. 2. For the group that want maximum smoothness (I personally do not think any COMPACT setup will be as smooth as something using the buffer tube). That said, I think the smoothest 9mm that also allows tuning is the JP-5. However, it is: A. expensive B. must buy entire rifle due to proprietary upper / receiver length C. Glock fed only We will see but maybe the Maxim Defense will offer a great recoil impulse for the many of people that already have AR9's. I'm not going to even consider the CMMG RDB in this group due to ejector spring failures. It is also a minimum of $350 for a BBL/BCG combo to get into it which isn't bad but if the Maxim RDB works then it would be the way to go since the fixed ejector in a typical AR9 is proven. Lastly, I think the MEAN Arms bearing delay fits in this group but until they actually ship, it is vaporware. I still put my tuned/modified CMMG RDB up as the best for my needs but again that is till the bolt breaks (I guess around 20K rounds). |

This is a good wrap up of the available options/potentially available options, save for the Scheel's roller delayed system already mentioned earlier in the thread. Going back to the OP, I'm looking for a system that runs on a standard AR lower which has already been SBR'd and can feed from Glock and/or Colt mags. The JP is 100% proprietary and the RDB just doesn't seem like it's matured to the point where parts longevity is on the same plane as blowback systems. The delayed buffer systems seem to be the easiest turnkey solutions, save for the MEAN Arms bearing delayed vaporware. Here's to hoping the next few months confirm the Maxim runs great and the MEAN Arms offering is available and lives up to the marketing.
