Quoted: I'll be interested in seeing a video of the CCI SV as that is what I have found works best with my Ceiner/CMMG 4" suppressed setup running the Franklin BFS. I do experience an occasional out of battery ignition that catches my attention so I am hoping that problem will be eliminated while running cleaner/quieter. Then, I expect I'll find that I can reliably run a larger variety of ammo just by adjusting weights. I'm pretty excited about the potential here. CCI SV works good in my CMMG upper with the BFSIII But the CCI SV is more my "precision" shooting stuff. Too expensive for blasting for fun. Mine runs great on the cheaper Federal Bulk in Binary. And alot cheaper to run also than the expensive CCI SV. |

Yeah, that was a problem until I came across a bulk buy on the CCI SV that got me down to right at 5 cents a round. I also have a bunch of the federal bulk which is what I would like to run but it is more problematic. |

Quoted: Yes, this is the next project. I've got a design that needs to be implemented that will integrate the wear point into the back plate so it will be replaceable at a low cost without having to replace a complex machined part. I imagine this is going to be a mid-summer release. The brass parts are a beta prototype of sorts and I do not have very many of them on hand. We decided to release them to judge interest before committing to a costly production run, and we'll be honoring warranty on the brass parts and replacing with stainess version should they wear out. Quoted: ETA: any plans for an adjustable stainless weight? Not sure I want to run a brass weight in an FA set up. Usually do 300-700rds each range trip with it and thinking that might chew it up pretty quickly. Yes, this is the next project. Get that adjustable stainless available and I'm your Huckleberry.... I run CCI SV almost exclusively (still have one box of Win 555 to burn through) so I'd figure out the heaviest I could go and still function reliably. I'll also second the Black Dog 50rd drum BHO. It's basically the only mag I use for 22lr AR as it loads just as easily as the others. |

| I'm jealous of you guys that don't have jamming problems with the CMMG conversion. I've used both Black Dog and CMMG mags and they both perform the same. Bought a CMMG charging handle but that didn't change much. I can load up to 15 rounds in a magazine now without the jams vs only 12 or so without the modified charging handle. Everyone talks about the empty cases jamming, but for me, it's the new cartridge from the magazine that jams straight up. I ordered the reliability kit and hoping that solves the problem. Will go with the weight next. To be honest, with all the extras you have to buy to get it to work properly, would have been cheaper to just buy an M&P 15-22 |

The only ammo I have used so far is CCI AR tactical. I am going to try some CCI standard velocity 40Gr next. |

Tell me about "rimlock" on the magazines. I've used Blackdog, CMMG and another type that is open in the center to show how many rounds are in the magazine. I've used just about every brand of .22 ammo I could find including CCI AR Tactical, SV, high velocity, Aguila, Federal, Winchester, and their different velocities including copper plated, hollow point and uncoated lead. They all act about the same. If I load the magazine full, I get one or two successful rounds and then a live round jams up the works pointed upwards. If I keep them down to 15 rounds, they work fine. Doesn't matter which brand magazine or ammunition. Lower is an Aero Precision that I've been using for several years without any hiccups using 223/556. Trigger is a LaRue MBT. |

S&W magazines have stout springs and avoid that. |

I never have problems with mine. I can run 50 round drums through one after the other in Binary or semi. Same with my Sig Sauer 25 rounders. I use CCI and Federal ammo in both mags. I also have never had a round stuck in a standard Charging Handle either. Seems some have. Firing pins are my problem area right now. I suppose if I ran enough rounds before a good cleaning problems could arise. But never had a session where that has become a problem yet. I do have a SW 15-22 mag I use occasionally. It is fine without the adapter. As long as I do not fudge it around. I need to epoxy a piece of plastic to the edge to lock it properly in position. |

Squeezing a quarter inch round against a follower stinks. An AR with a BMA or Catch22 is the best semi-automatic 22lr I've ever had. I tried to load my one CMMG magazine once. The first few rounds go in so easily, I wonder of the magazine follower would push them back out. By the time I got to the 24th, there was a lot of swearing. BTW, large zip-ties from Harbor Freight are the perfect depth for that. |

Mental Patient, pretty close,LOL Inside the magwell would screw my other mags from working I think. And would not allow me to switch to a .556 upper either. I do not know who makes the Sig Sauer Mags, they look alot like BDM ones... But they are actually pretty easy to load all 25 rounds. BDM Drums are real easy. |

Attached File Not sure you would use S&W 15-22 mags but they make a 10 round version. I use these to shoot off a bench when testing ammo. Not using these much anymore these days as I shoot my AR-22 mostly offhand these days |

I have a couple of Chiappa AR 22 magazines that work just as good as the BDM magazines that I have. They are a tad longer since they hold 28 rounds vs 25 rounds. The nice thing is that the Chiappa mags do have a button on the side to help in loading them. The down side is that just like the BDM/CMMG mags, they will not activate the bolt catch. OP, I am seriously considering the bolt weight. I haven't decided to get the brass one or the adjustable one. I want it to work with both high velocity and standard velocity without having to stop to change out weights. |

I want it to work with both high velocity and standard velocity without having to stop to change out weights. I experimented with tungsten weights on a CMMG bolt a couple of years ago by using some JB Weld to stick weights on the bolt shroud. I think I used .75 ounces. The difference in the feel of the recoil was considerable. I know this because they fell off very quickly and I was right back at the snappier and louder recoil. The stainless regular one at BoreBuddy is supposed to be 1.5 ounces. I haven't used mine yet, but I'm anticipating a significant difference. |

Renaissancemann, if you don't mind a stray idea: If you leave the back of the weight closed, i.e no holes, and only have holes in the front of the weight, the cylindrical weights can be loaded from the front and don't require a plate to keep them in -- the bolt itself will keep them in. I wondered whether a steel pin inserted across the back top of the weight, the part that allows the spring shroud to drag the weight forward would prolong the life of the brass weight, but I'm not sure how much wear that spot will really see. |

Fits nice and functions good. Of course still no Bolt Hold Open. But functional now..With no excessive wobble, feeds perfect. https://i.imgur.com/nTGqXgl.jpg?1 I need to switch to 15-22 mags but i have 6 cmmg mags now. Is there a market for them? |

Also holding out for the stainless adjustable version. Random input: please make sure that the bolt weight can sit as high as possible (without binding of course) My CMMG Stainless bolt weight ground down after firing so many times. It is now unusable because it skips over the edge that's meant to cycle it back and binds the whole gun up. This is partially due to the nature of the carrier. The long, thin stainless carrier will begin to bend downward over it's life from being hit at the back plate so many times during firing. In turn, the ledge of the bolt weight gets further from the ledge on the bolt and they start to grind eachother down. |

The non-adjustable stainless is weight is going to be the best "all around" solution for normal use. 1.5oz is about right for cycling the largest range of ammo. |

If you're like me, I'd lose the the weights out the front on my first range trip... I also considered a replaceable roll pin on a brass weight, but we opted for all stainless production going forward. The wear point on the adjustable weight will be replaceable on gen 2 to alleviate all the wear related issues with a simple rebuild. |

Quoted: This is partially due to the nature of the carrier. The long, thin stainless carrier will begin to bend downward over it's life from being hit at the back plate so many times during firing. I believe this can be alleviated with a rigid support of the back plate. A piece of wood can do that; I use polymer rod. |

I'm thinking of doing a dedicated .22LR upper in the next few months. Right now I use a CMMG conversion and have not noticed any issues related to bolt bounce. I did notice the back plate of the CMMG carrier was beating on the back of my lower where the buffer tube threads in and peening the metal. I was worried it would eventually crack the receiver. When I would chamber a round the entire BCG would shift back and forth. I install 2 TACCOM pressure plugs and it eliminated this shifting and it was more reliable. |

Got my adjustable brass weight in today. I will be spending more time with it but I can say it ran 100% in a dirty rifle with the first mag in BFS binary mode. I am running a Ciener kit, CMMG collar, 4" CMMG barrel, suppressed with CCI Standard velocity ammunition. I will give the rifle (SBR) a good cleaning and see if the weight helps reduce action fouling by keeping the bolt closed longer. I would think it has to help some. The gun sounds softer. Not as clackety as it was without it. Well machined, quick shipping, quick response to a minor tech question. |
|
Quoted: How was the weight configured? I also have a suppressed binary trigger setup using CCI SV, and was curious to as to how the full 7.6oz weight setup fared. I am pretty sure I ran the heavy. I didnt have my scale handy to double check. But with what I think were the heavy... it ran the cci Sv just fine. I will break out the scale this evening. |

Well after shooting this today I’m really impressed on how much the gun shoots smoothly now. At first I didn’t know what to think but then I shot it with and without and I could really tell then. It takes my suppressed AR22 from feeling like a springy airsoft gun to feeling like a normal rifle. ![]() Failed To Load Title |

Concur. We took video but it's on my buddies phone and I'll have to get ahold of that soon. I could definitely feel the difference with the additional weight vs without. It felt smoother with the weight. Double taps with the binary are easy peasy. Full on mag dumps, no problem! @Renaissancemann Check your email please. Many thanks. |

Quoted: He sent me a couple to test and they worked great. I also have cyclic rate results of 4 other weights but he asked me not to post any results yet. What velocity were you shooting? Even standard velocity runs like a buzz saw. Would hate to lose that. The only issue I have with the CMMG weight is they seem a bit fragile. I think I have broken 3 |
