Armed Pete,
LaRue mounts are made so that the lever should be pointing to the rear. On the LaRue Aimpoint T1 mount, the lever is suppose to be on the ejection port side of the gun (throw lever facing to the rear). Something I figured out over a year ago was that if you turned the mount around (ie. mounted the Aimpoint T1 backwards), the throw lever would be on the left side of the gun, with the throw lever pointing forward. With the Aimopint T1 mount on the left side of the upper, you could get the LaRue 3x magnifier one spot closer on the rail to the Aimpoint T1. The mount will work either way, but was designed to be on the ejection port side of the gun. I only have one optic mount from La Rue so for and that's in use on a leupold prismatic which can not be used with a magnifier. I would just worry about having the lever over the ejection port. My new LaRue FUG for my other work-in-progress lightweight carbine build, I'm just trying it out on my old Colt 6721 Operator midlength with LaRue 9.0 rail and Magpul XTM FDE rail panels. Thanks to the LaRue Tactical team's fast shipping as usual with all the free LT hat, Dillo beverage entry tool, machine gunners lube sample, Dillo Dust, and bumper stickers.

I smirked and explained that I purchased my first piece of gear, a LaRue ACOG mount in the early spring of 2004 and it was far superior to any ACOG mount that I had used up to that point. I then purchased a rail system, again it was far superior to any other rail system that I had used up to that point. From that point until present when ever I've needed a rail system, optic mount, Surefire mount, etc. I have purchased LaRue products. Due to problems I had with 2 other rail systems coming loose at the barrel nut, I used my entire 2005 tax return converting all of my rail systems over to LaRue rails. I even went about replacing the rail systems, optic mounts, etc. that I currently had with LaRue products. In the last couple days I have been thinking about the "LaRue whore" comment that my friend made. Thanks The rig is something I designed back in 2004 or so based on several different split front chest rigs that I had used over the years (ie. SOE Force Vest, SOE Patrol Vest, South African M83 vest, Tactical Tailor 2-piece MAV with X-Harness and Hydro carrier, etc.) The rig was custom made for me by a custom gear maker who was on in the buisness for a short period of time. The rig was custom built for me to my specs. Unfortunately the gentleman who made the rig is no longer in the gear buisness. Take care and be safe, |
