If you mounted the laser at 6 Oclock to have it set up to be used as a push button on the right side, would the throw lever sticking out on the left interfere with a weapon light mounted in an offset mount on the 9 Oclock rail?

Even though both the IWAL2 and the M1 are small devices, their respective mounts, plus other accessories can easily take up all the space in the choice mounting locations.

Naturally, I'd prefer to have the unit right now. But, if waiting a few months will allow me the opportunity to have an improved model, I'd prefer that to ponying up the dollars now and kicking myself for not having just a bit of patience.

At least Grant has the integrity to be up front about his plans. It's not as if he's tryng to maximize sales on the current version, then come around shortly thereafter with "time to upgrade your gear, guys, with the latest version of...". How many times in the marketplace have you seen that?

Also, it's not as if should I run out of patience I couldn't go ahead with an order one of the current version. Plus, I should think that if they were about to become scarce, Grant would let us know to put in our orders while supplies lasted.

As an aside, ARFCOM is a gear junkie's paradise. I keep telling myself my patience is a sign I'm still in control of my habit ::smile::.

Everything you said is correct. I do know that there laser diodes are on the way to the manufacturer and they working on getting the bodies made now (with some improvements).

Grant, if you were going to estimate -- and I am aware of and accept the pitfalls of estimation -- what sort of time frame would you currently ascribe to the process? I only ask because there are deals all over the place, on ARFCOM, and I'm trying to allocate a budget.

Any notion if this production will include the revised (+ M1) mounting option?

I would guestimate about 1 month. These models will NOT offer an M1 interface.

Half the mount could nearly stay the same as what it is now. A decent programmer could convert the Lamsa mount to an M1/iwal mount in about 30 minutes , and I'm sure larue has some good programmers.

Actually, I've had some time to look into this a bit and don't think a Lamsa configuration would end up gaining the user anything. The way the LaRue mount sticks out the rear center of the Lamsa, it's at least as long as two low profile mount attached one behind the other. Ideally, you'd want to have the IWAL/M1 bracket attach on top of a low profile mount to conserve rail space. There's no electronics or wiring between the two, so the frame could be relatively thin there. I'm just not certain how you could make it a throw-lever configuration and still have QD access to the lever.

Happy Day!!!!!

I got my IWAL2 and it looks and works great!!!! I spoke with HayesResearch before I ordered, and he's one heck of a good guy!!

With my PVS14, I have no blooming, just a nice dot. I don't have any dry dusty areas around here, but I've been trying it out in the lush green areas around here and even in the rain. I'm very impressed.

I'm glad that I went with the IWAL, it's cheaper than some of the other alternatives, but it's definitely a solid product, and while I don't expect any problems, after talking with the owner, I feel confident he solidly stands behind his products!!

Makes me wonder how close Hayes might be to a setup that mounts a SureFire M1 on the opposing side from the IR laser, as was once suggested possible. Wouldn't mind having one for my current project.
