I have no plans to tool up for the 9mm specific rear aperture. Feel free to swap it out for an M16A2 with ghost ring if need be. |

Am I correct in thinking that the original DOE guns did not have as much barrel sticking out in front of the site as the threaded pda guns do? |

The originals maybe stuck out 1/4” past the end plate of the sight. I have a reproduction that is correct… and just waiting on H&R to offer the handguards so I could lose the one-piece that I didn’t like. While I think a “correct” version would be awesome, you do have to remember that H&R needs to be able to sell them. More people have suppressors now than they did prior, and you’d lose a lot of interest without a threaded barrel. Their decision to offer with a threaded barrel likely sells more units than if it was standard. For the die hard collectors that want a correct DOE, I’m sure there are plenty more buyers who don’t care if it is correct. Same can be said with the new Marlin rifles. When I buy one, I want a threaded barrel so I can suppress it. |
