I have only shot 10 rounds. No problems. It is all stamped WWC 05. It sights in like the XM193 on my mini-14.

16" Stag chrom-lined M4.  5.56mm

SHOT LIKE UTTER CRAP.  After every single shot, I was required to pull the charging handle.  Refused to cycle.

Switch to American Eagle .223 and shot 40 rounds flawlessly.

ETA - Turns out it was my rifle.  We'll see how it shoots upon return.

Greetings,

I've had excellent results with Q3131.  My ammo included Lots WL75 and another that I can't dig out right now.  Some boxes were all Nato crosses while others are mixed with 04 and 05 headstamps.  I have put roughly 480 rds through my rifle.  Some '99 Q3131 I've shot also functione perfectly also(Lot PH61).

I have only one AR and everything functioned fine.  Groups exceptionally well 1" at 50yds and 1.5" - 2" at 100yds.  As a fluke ,possibly, had 10 rounds at 200yds shoot a 3" group.  6 shots were within an inch and the rest opened in it up to 3 inches.  I was shooting from a bench with forearm on a padded rest.

Rifle:
Rock River A4 Midlength with 1:9 chrome lined barrel
DPMS detach rear sight and standard FSB
Stag Lower/CMT LPK

I am/will be storing this ammo for SHTF.

Shot 500 rounds WWB 04&05 through Bushmaster M4A3 16inch 1X9. Not one single problem or malfunction. The Q3131 shot better groups than XM193 through the Bushmaster M4. Also, put 200 through a LMT M4 14.5 without any malfunctions. Although not as hot as the Xm193 the Q3131 shoots a little better in both AR's mentioned. I have a couple of other AR's that I have not tried it in yet but will post results when I do. I prefer the Q3131 5.56 above all others and will store at least 5K for SHTF. I do like the XM193 and will continue to purchase both XM193 and Q3131. Will buy whatever is cheapest at the time. Looks like XM193 is running a little less money at the moment.

I put about a hundred rounds of WCC 05 through my 16" Bushmaster in the past week.  Performance was flawless and accuracy was good (2 MOA with an Aimpoint).  It runs about 50 fps slower than XM193 (3132 v. 3180).  Good stuff IMHO.

the only bad report with an explination was edited later to say it was the rifle and not the ammo. if you have had problems with this ammo please tell us about it. without an explination it is really just useless information.

Shot 200 rounds of Q3131 today from the bench at 100 yards from RRA 16" mid length. All 05 lot XC01 and all had the NATO cross. A few dings in the brass but otherwise no issues. All fed and fired and accuracy was 1.0 - 1.5 inches.

Recently experienced problems with 1999 vintage Q3131, Lot #PB61.

Q3131 has been my "go-to/SHTF" ammo for many years (since at least 1995).  I've been gradually shooting some of it up and replacing with the newer XM193.

Starting earlier this year, I've been experiencing a series of maddening issues with a previously stone-axe reliable 20" Colt HBAR (barrel turned down to mid-weight diameter).  Problems included bolt-over-base, failure-to-feed, and failure-to-lock-bolt-open-after-last-shot.

Took the gun in question out yesterday after replacing the gas-rings, and it was still choking.  Bottom line is that this particular lot of Q3131 will barely cycle my Colt "shorty" (16"), flat-out won't run in my 20" gun, and would not cycle my buddy's 16" / mid-length gas system.  Even in the shorty it almost felt on the verge of malfunctioning, but in the 20" and mid-length, it just didn't seem to have enough pressure...recoil felt funny; kind of "springy" (appologize for the non-technical terminology).

My shooting partner had another lot of Q3131, which functioned flawlessly in all of our guns, and my 20" gun ran flawlessly with XM193.

It took me quite awhile to trace this to the ammunition, since I shifted from one lot of Q3131 to another late last year.  I've found Federal/American Eagle to be a little slow, and have experienced occasional malfunctions in all of my 20" Colts, but NEVER Q3131, until yesterday.  Ammo was stored in GI ammo cans in an environmentally-controlled area.

I am going to attempt to contact Winchester this week and ask them about this ammunition.  If nojoy from Winchester, my shooting partner and I intend to chrono some of the suspect lot.

I will post if/when I have additional data.

3070fps average for 10 shots measured at 10ft from 16" 1:9 M&A upper with Superior lower, 90degree, high humidity, elevation 450'.  Outstanding accuracy at 25, 15 and 7 yds (in-the-house range.)  Only AE is more accurate.

I have shot several thousand rounds of this stuff, most in my 24" varminter.  Of the ammo I have put through my 4 AR's, (all plinking stuff), it's the most accurate across the board.  Wolf was the least accurate and most dirty, and Federal 193 was not quite as accurate.  So I tried the 62gr in the varminter 1/8 twist and it was worse, with goups opening up almost 1" at 100 yds.  Whatever.  I guess I will be handloading for that gun soon anyway.  But for the others, the Winchester is just fine.

I have shot this ammo to excellent effect. It is very accurate for me (1 inch groups at 100yds with scope) and reliable. I am not sure if it is as good at Lake Citys round, but I dont believe the difference is even noticable. I am buying alot of it incase it decides to dry up like everything else.

Buy and shoot often as its a good round.

I am shooting it out of a Model 1 Sales 20 inch A3 upper by the way. Love Model 1 uppers.

I had the exact same problems, but in a different batch.  Not sure which to be honest (as I had already thrown the boxes away), but it was off the shelf at Gander Mtn recently.

Shot 200 rds today.

LOT XB31

Had 2 F ial T o E xtracts

Both times happened w/ two different 30 rd magazines during a semi-rapid fire session of no more than 10 rds.

A definite difference in sound when shooting XM193.

Accuracy / grouping was very good.

I need to shoot some more of the case that I bought before I make a final decision.

220 rounds

100 degrees faranheit

high humidity

lot WN61

'05 headstamp with NATO cross

did not bench anything today, but at 50yds accuracy was great (standing offhand) with an eotech (2-2.5").

shooting was done at a rapid pace.

I'm putting the rest back until my buddy can get back to St. Louis (4.57 a box and no I'm not telling you where).

I bought 80 rounds (all they had) at bass pro shop in Concord, NC.  Ammo is 10% of till March 4th, so I got 80 rounds for 20.71 out the door.  Thats equal to $259 per 1000 (WITH TAX).

I opened it up at the house and its NATO Cross, WCC, 06.

There is some red stuff around/on the primers on SOME shells.

No chrono ... sorry!

Damn, thats a good price. The BassPro in Ft Lauderdale is $5.99 per box less the 10%. So here that same ammo is $22.48 out the door. That is $281.00 per 1k with Tax.

Yeah, the Bass Pro Sale is nice... I picked up a case about a week ago and cannot wait for better weather! I was annoyed that they had a bright yellow sign next to the ammo stating there are no rain checks... I was hoping to secure some "low" priced ammo for the future with a rain check, oh well.

I am new but have been researching for a little while. I just got a BM 16", 1/9, A3. I found some of the WCC q3131 it rang up $3.82. I bought the last 400 rounds they had. I found it at a sporting goods store here in Boise ID. I have been trying to get ahold of the Fed/AE at Wal-mart for the $50, but the clerk said the same guy buys all of it when ever it comes in. I will keep trying I guess. The picture thread is great. Thanks for all the info and I am thinking about joining the club.
