Gun: LMT Number of Rounds: 200 Ammo: .223 REM, 55 grain FMJBT The stuff I shot was marked 2004 and had a tan polymer case. No failures of any kind. I was suprised after hearing all the bad about this ammo. I am considering buying more. Anyone know the difference between the tan and the grey color cases? |
Same here. But Natec out of business now it seems. What I got (500rnds) I got from NatchezSS and at the time it was same price as (might have been a tad less than) steel-cased Wolf. They ran out of stock after I shot it all up and haven't had any for well over a year. Sure made a bag full of loaded mags a lot easier to carry. Seemed OK for plinking.... no worse than Wolf. |

Double Post Mods please delete. I had 100 rounds of this ammo and I was not able to fire more than 3 rounds of it with out having to dig part of one those grey plastic cases out of the chamber. More than one split along the side of the case. I was able to pull bullets out of the casings with my fingers. Very poor qualty and I am glad that NATEC went out of business, had they offered some type of quality control and some testing , it might have been a good deal . I would not recomend this ammunition to ANYONE. |

Iended up pulling the projectiles and using them in some handloads, Very poor qualty and I am glad that NATEC went out of business, had they offered some type of quality control and some testing , it might have been a good deal . I would not recomend this ammunition to ANYONE. |

1) Bushmaster 16" (Shorty AK) 2) 400+ .223 Rem 55gr FMJBT I had the opportunity to try some of this stuff when I attended Front Sight's four day rifle class. I personally experienced several stoppages where the rim of the case was torn off during extraction, leaving the polymer case in the chamber. Other members of the class shooting out of the same can of ammo also experienced similar stoppages ( not entirely sure of the nature of their stoppages but they had to come off line and break down the rifle to clear it ). If I had to guess, I would have to say it appears to be heat sensitive since I could shoot the stuff without malfunctions when the gun was cold ( cool anyway ). Once the tempo sped up, I would begin experiencing type-3 malfunctions with increasing regularity until a head seperated and cause a trip to the cleaning table. When I switched to Fiocci ball ammo, the malfunctions ceased entirely in my rifle ( unless it was a clearing drill of course ). As far as accuracy, shooting off of ammo cans and bags to confirm zero at 50 and 200 yards yielded 2 to 3 MOA depending on me for the most part. Reading the thread thru, I saw the exact same failures as npd233 photo documented in his post. Good times. |
Well, I must in good faith state that I shot a few rounds the other day and wound up with a mafunction. The empty wouldn't eject properly. When I got it out I saw that the neck had become partially seperated from the shoulder. In looking the round over I discovered that the primer had also blown. I found it jammed between the buffer and the rear of the carrier. After looking the rifle over I fired several rounds of UMC 55gr FMC - about the mildest stuff around - and had no problems. The blown primer and goofed up case was within the first 10 or so rounds I had fired that day, so the rifle wasn't hot or anything. I'm not sure if I'm going to shoot any of the rest I have. -K |

Shot 100 rounds today--white case, 55gr. STAG lefty AR SIG 556 Steyr AUG No problems in the first two, the AUG had FTFeed every other round for first few rounds. Switched to Norinco China Sports in the black and white box and had same problem several times. HArd to say if it was ammo or magazine or both. Seeing as how this performed well in my main shooters, i will definitely shoot more of it. I will also buy it when it's affordable. I like it. |

I'm so glad to see this ammo listed! Here goes: Bought 3 boxes of the 55 grain fmj. Took (2) AR rifles, a Colt Sporter Match H-Bar 20" (Blue label) purchased new Christmas time 1992, a gift from my wife. Also, a 16" Bushmaster Carbine that I purchased new during "the ban" that had to go back to the factory as it short stroked on good ammo and they opened up the gas port (per the work ordered returned with the weapon), along with a free trigger job. The result: In the Colt, it immediately bobbled, & short stroked. Misfed, or simply did not pick up another round at all and the hammer fell on an empty chamber. Like I stated this weapon was purchased new in 1992 and in all these years and about 4000 to 5000 rounds fired it has never not once had any malfunction whatsoever. Not a stovepipe, not a failure to extract, no short stroking, no failure to chamber when dirty, nothing. This weapon has been 100% extremely dead cold reliable up until I fed it this crap. Tried some in the Bushmaster Carbine with opened up gas port, it ran better but still hung up once or twice. Gave the last 10 rounds to a friend who had his SAR-3 Romanian AK in .223 there, it ate all 10 rounds. With my experience, I would not give 50 cents for another box, It is total crap. Since then, the Colt nor the Bushmaster have not had any issues with many other brands fired, they are both 100% reliable with everything else. |
