I finally got my M5 lower in FDE ordered. I had originally wanted to do this project back in the spring and couldn't ever catch the lowers in stock. I wound up with a RPR in 6.5, so I guess thats where I'll head with this build.
This will actually be my first AR build from start to finish. I'm debating on if I just want to buy an Aero complete upper and be done with it, or do I want to try and find parts. I'm really torn here. |

I got one and an enhanced LPK. I wound up having to use my phone to purchase it.
Now I just gotta decide how to spec this beast out from here on out. I know I'm gonna do 6.5 Creedmoor to match the RPR, but outside of that, I'm defintely open to (reasonable) suggestions! Thanks for the update Though |

So that gives me two upper/lower sets and parts to finish off the lowers, but I need to finalize my plans for the uppers and get those purchases started. Barrels, gas tubes, rails, gas block, sights, muzzle devices. Probably A2 stock on 20", Magpul STR on 16". Still looking at a 20" rifle and a 16" carbine. As much as I am a qual rail, KAC FF RAS guy I might go MLOK on the carbine. |

schuyler arms has them for $70.00 and other parts like charging handles etc. barrels are gone but i got a BA barrel for $144.00 from them on sale. http://www.schuylerarmsco.com/product.aero-precision-m5-308-lower-parts-kit-993 here is my Aero build: Aero upper & lower and CH BA a2 flash hidder BA 18'' rifle gas heavy barrel SLR adjustable gas block UTG pro 15'' handguard hogue stock Aero buffer tube/spring and buffer and now has hogue grip and a leupold VX3 6.5-20x50 30mm scope (no pictures yet with scope and grip) not the greatest pics but you get the idea.

How long does aero usually take to ship? I ordered an in-stock assembled upper receiver before noon on 8/3 and still haven't received their promised shipping notification. Emailed them yesterday asking, and haven't received a response. Is this typical for them? I got confirmation that my lower shipped today. I ordered it last Monday. Still no confirmation on my LPK or Upper. |

Ive used this on four uppers when installing barrel nut or muzzle device. Just clamp the barrel nut wrench in a bench vice. |

If you are impatient and have a 2x4 laying around: Take a short piece of 2x4 and sit the upper on top of the 3.5" side with pivot pin tab at the end of the 2x4. Trace out the size and location of the takedown and pivot pin tabs then use a router bit to auger out the wood so the tabs are recessed into the wood and the upper is flat against the wood. The tabs need to be very tight in the holes. Use another piece of 2x4 and put on top of the pic rail, take this and turn it sideways and clamp it into the vice. This does the same thing as a regular vice block. |
| What we did was take plywood and make some soft jaws . Drill holes so the pivot pin ears counter sink and the bottom sits flush. The rail makes contact with the other jaw so the upper is on its side in the vise. Make sure the upper rail is inline with the jaw not below the bottom rails are thick enough that it can sit a little higher than the jaw. We've torqued tons of barrels this was at work with no damage. |

What brand lower parts kit are you guys using ? I had one on order with an upper from the site mentioned above but they back ordered it. Their shipping was 38 dollars for just the upper so I'm looking else where. I bought Aero's LPK, but I'll probably switch over to a gisselle trigger at some point. Now I need to decide if I'm gonna sell my RPR :-( |

Still pretty pissed off about the magazine release from the Aero LPK, have an Armalite release on backorder, tried the Seekins button but it wasnt much better. I cant release the mag without a screwdriver or something. Aero really fucked us on this one.

I got mine maybe 2 years ago, but as per info from this thread they are all short. That's where I found out the Armalite one is longer. From what I understand they are regular sized but you need a longer one for their lowers. |
