Who is ridiculing you? In other threads I said about as much, that ACOGs aren't for everyone, some don't find BAC particularly intuitive and something they care to, or can, master. I find it a perishable skill, if I don't practice it often enough, BAC becomes weird. The idea behind BAC IS both eyes open, thus Trijicon is able to boast far greater peripheral vision than traditional scopes where one would normally close one eye. I've never bashed anyone for not liking ACOGs or finding the whole BAC thing usable. Take it easy, I didn't say anything negative about you. |
No biggie....just wondering how one should take this:
I stated my opinion and it was relative to the Aimpoint vs ACOG for close in work. You quoted me and narrowed the scope (no pun) of the conversation to 4 x 32 scopes. Never said that the ACOG's FOV was worst in it's class did I? |
I don't post much, especially not in here, so I haven't come across the complaint before. Perhaps '2000' times was an exaggeration. I wasn't counting, and he probably wasn't either. We fired roughly 2400 rounds in three days, and perhaps the scope didn't whack the Marine 80% of the time. It did hit him enough that after every string of fire during which his forehead was unprotected (he often wore a head covering), there would be fresh blood. It gave a very capable shooter a pretty bad flinch.

Putting an ACOG on an M4 is not at all a bad idea. It CAN be a bad idea if you rarely look at a targets past 50 yards. But if what you do with your M4 can benefit from a low power optic like an ACOG, you wont want an Aimpoint. Im a nobody who doesnt look at any targets that arent paper or metal. But I have an open enough mind listen to and comprehend the ACOG's virtues. Blanket statements like always and never are seldom true. Using the right tool for the right job always makes things easier. Putting any one optic any everyones gun is probably always a bad idea for someone. When all you have is a hammer, all your problems seem to look like nails. |
