How in the world did that guy get the recoil out of that Auto 7.62x39? I shot a couple mags of full auto out of an AK and it was a climbing beast. While it shoots the same round, you can't expect the same recoil and accuracy. The AR's DI system will dampen the recoil as well as the spring, buffer, and muzzle device. The recoil is almost more inline with the barrel than the AK. |

Aside from just wanting an ar in 7.62 for the cheaper ammo prices and more versatility to mount things instead of my ak, that is the other reason I decided to buy a 7.62x39 upper. Hopefully I have found a new dedicated deer/hog hunting round to use besides my ar10 and 50 Beowulf here are some quick pics and vids I made earlier this week when I got my new toy out of jail on my 7.62x39 upper. it's an alpha shooting sports 16" upper <a href="http://s27.photobucket.com/user/dakang3/media/20141111_154528_zps120f5338.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c166/dakang3/20141111_154528_zps120f5338.jpg</a> <a href="http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c166/dakang3/20141111_152009_zps2189f9b0.mp4" target="_blank">http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c166/dakang3/th_20141111_152009_zps2189f9b0.mp4</a> <a href="http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c166/dakang3/20141111_154317_zps9292ce48.mp4" target="_blank">http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c166/dakang3/th_20141111_154317_zps9292ce48.mp4</a> Quoted:

Seriously thinking of doing a 7.62x39 for my next build. If SBR is not practical would you use a 16 in or go pistol instead. Thinking of having a secondary deer slayer that is more mobile than my 14lb .308. Maybe a 1-6 optic. It is an excellent choice for deer within 200 yards, better than the 30-30 in my book, plus cheap ammo and mild recoil allows for more practice for those weekend warriors who would otherwise just shoot a couple rounds prior to the season. |

Good work! |

I've been looking at barrels for an x39 build. Any of you guys seen the Cobra Tactical barrel? They claim..

with these 2 parts, I don't believe any machining to the upper is necessary |

The stamp is a killer, but I went with the Sig Brace for a pistol and I'm planning to test out the Thordsen setup soon. SBR may make more sense as far as setup, but the benefits of a pistol are hard to beat. No need to get permission to cross state lines with it, it can be in your car loaded in the state of PA (unlike long guns), and it can come in about $100 cheaper and quicker than the NFA stamp. However, the SBR is a better setup. Stupid NFA shit. If the NFA had a face, I'd poop on it (just like in Oz) Quoted:

Getting me interested in a 7.62x39 now! Great pictures guys! It's depressing to think I could have bought a SLR 107 for what I'm going to have in this upper... Never mind eventually having a dedicated lower and stamp. This thread is giving me ideas to build a 7.62x39 upper |

( i have/had 7 different ones) 1/2 moa at 100 yds probably won't come with any Russian type surplus ammo, but are still more accurate than all the other barrels i have had. I have seen Golden Tiger ammo group 3 or 4 shots at .75 to 1 inch or so but then you will get a couple of flyers. Hornady SST is very consistent at around 1.5 inch groups. Never tried any Yugo or Lapua or any other American ammo in them so I don't know what the results would be. at $129 this barrel is a bargain. I have been using one of the ARD's in 2 Gun competitions with excellent results. easily hit a 12" x 18" steel target from 135 yards kneeling and prone. not necessarily a great accuracy test, but then again you have never see me shoot, so i need all the help i can get! I had a KAK industries barrel that shot worse than any other one i own. this is a good company but their $265 barrel wasn't even close to the accuracy of the ARD's, RedX Arms, or Mas Defense barrels I have. i was surprised by the KAK barrel's performance because it is supposed to be a Green Mountain Barrels blank which have a good reputation for accuracy. go figure |

ARD barreled upper. all 100 yds, front and rear bags, ammo as noted, windy day. pretty happy with these $129 ARD barrels. both shoot great. </a>" />

interesting that the cheaper Wolf PolyPerformance ammo usually groups worse than the Golden Tiger but then gets these occasional great results. the Golden Tiger is more consistent at 1" to 1.5", but the sub moa groups seem more rare. |

very cool |
| So, the 7.62x39 AR is running fantastic. Put about 100 rounds of tula through it today without a single hicup. Opening up the gas port to 3/32 definitely did the trick. On another note both mags fed perfectly (one being a modded asc 30 rounder, and the other being a stock asc 10 rounder). |
