The dowel in the .30 dummy to prevent bullet setback over repeated use of the cartridge?

One thing that I noticed with all your neat cutaways is all the different shaped powder in the rounds. I never seen so many different shapes and colors. Not a reloader so I've never really seen anything other than just what was on tv shows. Very interesting, I always thought it was all one size and shape.
