i wanted to get a zastava m90 and or an underfolder while they are still available what one should i get first? why? i cant buy both at the same time |

I built a M70 UF and an M72. Never handled a M92. A lot of people hate on the UF stock. I don't understand, I've never had an issue with it. It's not some super-sweet sniper stock with a padded cheek rest; it's a friggin' AK. It's not easy to just add a stock to the M92 and it's not easy to just cut down a M70. So getting something and SBR-ing it later really wouldn't be in the cards. It's doable, but so is just about anything with enough time and money. I wouldn't want to shoot an AK without a stock for more than a couple shots myself. So I say the M70. The only way I'd go M92 is if you can buy a factory SBR, which would be UF anyway. EDIT: Well, I misread. You said M90. In that case, go with that. The draw of AKs was cheap rifle and cheap ammo. Neither are true anymore. 5.56 is now cheaper to get than x39. The underfolder on the zastavas aren't too uncomfortable imo though. |

I'll be honest, and it's probably not what you want to hear, but. My ex wife had an under folder, either an M70 or M72, whichever was around in the 2005 time frame, as have several friends that I shoot with. The only one that kept their under folder was my ex, but she never sold anything she bought. She shot it for about six months, then she put it away. She shot her WASR AK and her AR15 about 95% of the time, because the under folder was uncomfortable and hard to get a consistent cheek weld. All the friends that sold theirs sold them for the same reason. A couple of guys bought standard stocked AK's, one went to AR15s back then. They're fun for a few months, and then you get tired of the cheek weld problems and move to a fixed stock. Not everyone is like that, and you may not be like that, but it's good to keep that in mind. My son bought a standard polymer stocked Ak, and then we added a custom finished deep red Russian Red wood stock from Combloc Customs. He went fixed stock due to his experience with the ex wife's under folder. I would be fine with a side folder. |

It really depends on the person. I have no issues using an underfolder. But maybe being tall and lengthy works better with the UF. Zastava makes the fake UF stock that can replace your fixed M70 stock for around $200. So now you can get into a UF without spending the money. And swap back when you want. I thought about getting one for my M85. ZPAP AK Underfolding Stock Kit (no gunsmithing required) I too want an M90, as it seems 5.56 ammo is cheaper than 7.62. And with adj. gas, it's easier to run a can if you desire. The best deal I think for a UF M70 is the Zastava build kit for $999. Unfortunately, they're OOS. Mine has a 1983 trunnion marking, gas shutoff (good for running Subs through a can without bolt movement/noise), & no warning markings on the receiver. It just looks "correct" for those rifles.
