Very few of these have survived. I suspect less than 10 exist in this condition. This is a matching East German Karabiner S SKS with all markings intact. In the German tradition even minor parts are marked with the rifle’s serial number. Metal is much more highly polished before blueing than any other variant that I have ever seen. I have owned this for a number of years. There are no papers but it’s oral history says that it was brought home from Vietnam. The pictures can provide a much better description than I can provide here. The current issue of The American Rifleman has an article that provides more information about these than I have seen in print before. It’s time for a the next caretaker to preserve this rifle for history. Please view all of the pictures. I will not dismantle it any further. I have fired this rifle. I suspect that I may be the only person that has since it was proof fired. |
