| What's everyone using for mag pouches? Will they fit in AK mag pouches? Trying to build a chest rig and not sure which direction to go. |

Now you have me wondering, I'll see if they fit in the AR/AK mag pouches I have. Mine are still in the 4 pack VZ mag pouch, but it's just a sling bag, not a chest pack. |

| I have no experience with AKs or access to AK accessories, I would hate to spend money and they not work. Some companies I have emailed didnt even know what a VZ58 was, let alone if they would fit in their AK pouches. Torn between Beez pouches and Zulu nylon gear pouches. |

They are wider and have a different curve than my AK mags, but they fit fine into my M16 3 bandoleer pouch, but the pouches can't snap shut, but if they are loaded, they should stay in due to the weight. Edit: This one  The rib on the back made it a slightly tight fit on the AK pouch I tried, but it also would work. Your other option is to send a mag to Tactical Tailor or someone similar and have one custom made. |

VZ58 magazines seem to fit ok in AK mag pouches, but sometimes the flap won't close. Why gamble? Use genuine VZ58 pouches..I'm not talking about the outdated leather pouches but the nylon/cordura VZ58 pouches in Czech woodland camo. RTG parts does decent work on (sometimes) doing a photo test on what mags will fit in their merchandise. |

Pouches that I've used w/ my VZ58: Spiritus Spud Pouch: https://www.spiritussystems.com/spud-pouch/ Fits 1x mag great. Not ideal, so wouldn't use it as a speed reload but def. holds it secure. I'd imagine the JSTA pouch would also hold one well if you use a 308 kydex insert. LMK if you're interested and I'll do a test fit when my JSTA arrives this week. The have both a short and tall version and both seem to work very well. Easy to draw out and reindex. Even the short one holds the mags very securely without the need for additional bungie loops, but the pouch is designed so those can be easily added if needed. Whiskey Two Four Acc. It is slightly wider and "deeper" than some other chest rigs so you can easily fit 3x mags side by side across with some room to spare. Holds securely and easily to draw and reindex. I'm sure a similar set up w/ Haley etc... would work well, but those are a bit smaller so IDK if you'd get 3x mags across, might only fit two |

I've also used some of the older 2x side by side pouches like the below. They work, but are a bit bulky and clunky to have hanging off your belt. And that is the only way to mount them since they just have a pair of belt loops; no molle. https://www.vz58usa.com/product/vz58-belt-magazine-pouch-vz95-wood-camo-2-cell/ Some of the new mil-issue czech stuff is pretty good. The issue with these though is that it's not a standard molle mount system. So mounting it up how you want might become an issue. However, they fit two mags and work great.
