I swore there used to be a dedicated cost/value thread on here and couldn’t find it so apologies to the mods if I screwed up posting here. LGS has an Arsenal SA-RPK in 5.45x39 (the blond wood one), asking $2800 and change. Theres just not a lot of these popping up so it’s hard for me to find any recent sales…thoughts? |

I wouldn’t pay half that much, but that’s me. If you’re planning on shooting it, you’ll need a HELOC. If you’re looking at storing it as an investment, you’ll have better returns on mutual funds. That may have been a bargain during the covid panic pricing cycle, not so much now. My honest opinion…prove me wrong if I'm full of it.

| You’re definitely right on the ammo although I’m a 5.45 guy and have more than I’ll ever shoot. If I get it, it’d be just because I always kind of wanted one (fills a hole in the collection and has a cool factor I like). I’d love to have it appreciate in value but, that wouldn’t be my main motive. I’d shoot it some, display it some. Just don’t want to get reamed on the price. Also, was probably looking a bit for a “what’s a good price point to haggle with the shop owner?” |

I know Gunbroker isn't always an accurate representation but that's certainly on the low end of prices compared to what's listed on there right now. If you just want an RPK it's probably a better deal to find an AES-10B. I think PSA has been selling some Romanian kit builds recently as well. Wish some of the US AK manufacturers would crank out an RPK-74 in 5.56. |

I almost traded into a 556 a little over a year ago. The guy wanted my SR15 straight up so he at least thought it was worth over 3k. I'd say make them an offer if you want it. -Also to add we should start a values thread (if allowed) like they have in the kac forum. I'm sure AKs and AK parts aren't as crazy or all over the place as there though. Besides broker I don't know how to price stuff that isn't being imported anymore. |
