I didn't realize we had a VZ58 forum, so I'm cross posting this here:

Hey guys. I did something dumb and bought a Horror Freight 20 ton press because I have an RPK kit to build (and need to buy like $600 in tools to build it).

So I'm looking at other guns to build with this press, and it appears that there are still some VZ58 kits around, and I can find 100% receivers.

All the walkthroughs I see do not say anything about jigs or anything. Are there any other specialized tools required?

Not much specialized you need. I made a plate with a hole in it and a radius to match the VZ barrel and a plate for the rear that matches the VZ receiver rear angle.

I did make a special barrel removal tool. Basically a taller AK barrel removal tool.

The hardest part was the barrel. My receiver had a taper in the barrel bore that I had to match. Rest was pretty easy. No rivets or anything fancy like that.

Basically put the barrel in with that little crescent piece, then put your GO gauge in and install the bolt. Press the receiver onto the barrel until it stops. Check with NG.

Which receiver did you use that had a taper bore?

AWO. Receiver was great. Can be difficult to keep a taper to a minimum when machining a hole that deep. Tool flex and all that. Wasn't a big deal. Spun it on that lathe and was able to match the taper with some sandpaper.
