Should perhaps put this in the Yugo/Serb forum but there’s so little activity there and this is mainly an optics topic. I’m having Two Rivers Arms build a Tubak Sniper out of an M70B1 kit I’ve had squirreled away for years. Need to settle on an optic and rail but I’ll have months to figure it out. I have a spare ONM76B scope and there’s a real outside chance I may have a line on a x39 elevation cam/drum for it but I’m not holding my breath. I understand all variety of optics may have landed on these rifles in Iraq but I think they typically carried ZRAKs (ONM99 – unobtanium) or PSOs. While I’m a huge fan of RSRegulate side mounts I don’t think slapping a Trijicon or other modern optic on this thing will be remotely appropriate. Ashamed to admit but I’ve never known the difference between a PSO and a POSP scope. Brand? Trademark? Tech? Where does one go to find a side mount, ComBock profile scope. Kalinka? Belomo ? Looks like they sell the same thing. Both Belarusian optics? What is Valdada? Also what do the following prefixes and descriptions mean? •KOM •Pilade •PSO •POSP •“D” in the model number •“Vari” ? (assuming variable) Many years ago I bought for my PSL in 54r I a “PSO 3-9x24 Tigr, 1000m Rangefinder, SVD” from Kalinka. Fantastic FFP optic. No longer available of course . In summary : Where does one go to source a side mount BDC ComBloc type scope cam’d for 762x39 and a 20” barrel that’s going to be a decent fit for this build? 4x or 6x, fixed or variable, would be great. Don’t care about illumination. Usually sucks on those version optics. BTW these forums have really quieted down the last several years. What happened? Are we all aging out or everyone’s banned off into oblivion? |

Not to confuse this with a standard AKM style Iraqi built infantry rifle, this is a specific clone of a scoped & 20" barreled DMR the Iraqis fielded. |

I’ve believe the BelOMO POSP versions are going to be my best bet from multiple sources and wonder what you would suggest. I don’t really care about the 400 or 1,000m range finder tool nor do I care about illumination . Rather, more concerned with: the Simonov version 100, 200, 400 BDC chevrons for 762x39 and whether the rail type will be important OR you’ll have that covered not matter what version I procure (???) Its probably not necessary for an authentic clone. Mine had one, but it was regulated for 7.62X54R. The scope, which I brought back with me, has markings in Cyrillic and Arabic. I is, I believe, a 4X PSOP with long expired tritium. |
