Got a few of the Tapco SAW AK grips (3) and the T6 stock sets to match. Pleased with them. The screws that are sent with them are not strong enough. I mounted my stock tubes and drilled and tapped them for 10-24 flathead machine screws. Little locktite and and the stock is really stiff.
It really works well now. For a new look how about offering the ak extension tubes with a Magpul MOE or CTR. It looks great. I tried it. I did get one of the Galil front handguards. I had to trim so much to get it to fit my Norinco and then when it did, I rather throw it in the trash. The new one may be better but I'd rather not spend the cash on it guessing. G2 trigger groups......No complaints here. Just installed 3. |

Got the new handguards and they would have to be cut to work with an Ultimak. Not a problem since I'm planning to change my optic mount anyway.

| When will someone smarter than me make a top cover rail that works?The side mount rails are too high and the Vltor type that connects to the rear sight and stock bolt look dumb and are heavy.Maybe a top cover rail that also connects to the side rail and sight both for support but looks more like part af the gun than the vltor thing? |

I wish I knew what everyone was talking about, but none of the links posted work. I want to know if anyone makes an AK dust cover with a rear sight at the rear. Since one of the failings of the AK is the short sight radius, with the rear sight practically in the middle of the gun, I saw somewhere (I think it was an Israeli modification) that moving the rear sight to the rear of the dust cover improved long range accuracy. Any ideas? Also, how hard/easy to remove the original rear sights from middle of gun?

My WASr have quite a few Tapco items on it, both internally and furniture wise. I've always been satisfied with the quality of the product, the pricing, and the fact that's it's all US made.
I just modded my lower handguards to fit an Ultimak scout rail and pretty much shredded the inside of them with the Dremel. Took a heck of a long time to file things down too. Might I suggest relocating the support struts on the end closest to the receiver to a position that's closer to the support struts on the forward end. This would make it much easier to Use the Ultimak. I know this sounds counter intuitive, since it mean users won't be using your upper handguard, but it would give you a leg on the competition like CAA. I am satisfied with the way they both look on the outside though, and I know people who've made the same mod and they'v enever complained about melting. Many AK users use the CAA lower handguards because they are railed and readily fit the Ultimak. By making your handguard ready to fit the Ultimak you're providing the consumer with an alternative product that is US made. Just my 2 cents as a loyal customer. |

So instead of waiting for a review i purchased the forearm... needed to do some trimming to fit my milled receiver, over all i give the fit and finish on my rifle to be a 7 out of 10... 1) the ejector side of the rifle the lower portion of the hand guard bulges out and does not meet the upper flush.. its nothing that can be trimmed to fit the mold itself is the problem. 2) The top rail doesn't sit flat, when i look through my irons the rail is clearly cocked to the left, once again no amount of trimming could fix this either. 3) The top right has an very slight wobble.. may not be enough to effect the zero at 50yd but at longer ranges maybe. Good things are that the lower section after trimming is rock solid and looks great with a magpul AFG2, the upper doesn't look too bad either but i just wish it sat flush and didn't wobble 
Im not going to keep my red dot up front anyway because its too far forward and seems to throw the balance off the rifle, i think im going to go with a low profile side mount, i found a few online, but if anyone has a proven side mount rail please pm me with a link to purchase.. I don't want the full length rail someone posted here b4.. im a broke college student and i cant go spending more for a rail to mount my red dot then the red dot itself

These fit really loose and have been banished to the junk pile.
The lower handguard could be salvaged with some creative use of JB Weld, but the gas tube cover is so loose in all directions, its completely worthless. That being said, I have a set for sale in black. |
