So my rifle will not cycle. Is there supose to be a spring on the piston? Also the piston extension is home made from a grade 8 bolt. I do have the original and swapped that in for next range trip.

There should be a spring on the piston extension inside the rear sight base.

Ok I had one on the piston and and one on the piston extension. And double checked the home made grade 8 bolt piston extension and it was shorter than the original. I think my buddy that owned it before me made it into a single shot on purpose.

is it a Yugo 59/66? may have the gas shut off for grenade launcher engaged

It's a Russian I figured it out. Was a buddy that passed he made it into a single shot for load development. One day ill make it out to the range to test it in semi auto then put it back the way my buddy had it.
