| So I took my SLR 106 with a SAG chassis and bipod to a 3 Gun match and it completely stb past 200 yard. Couldn't hit a steel torso plate at 400y after like half a magazine so I skipped that and eventually timed out. Granted I've hit 300 4" plates before and I was under match conditions so I wasn't the most stable, but the other day I was able to make repeat hits on a plate at 450 yards with the same ammo (Win M193) out of an AR 15. This and previous experiences are suggesting even with a decent optic and bipod, this AK simply isn't capable of being accurate. I plan to do a proper MOA test at 100 yards soon using M193 and BH 77gr OTMs, and if it truly is at 2-4 MOA then I may just sell it. Fun gun but too much money invested for that performance. Anyone else have similar experience with 5.56 AKs? |

I'm rocking a Zenitco B-33/Sport 4 Kit with an Elcan Specter 1-4x using 62gr M855 and its 1-2.5 MOA with a Putnik at 100 Yards on my SLR106F excluding the occasional flyer. I would say it is on par with most of my AR15s, even better than some. I was actually surprised by its accuracy rocking standard M855. Also tried the Barwarus Sport 4 Clone on that same SLR106F and its been rock solid as well. I bring that up because SAG has acknowledged they have had accuracy issues/not being able to hold a Zero with their chassis on certain variants. Check out this video. M26 Lemon Grenade on youtube also discusses this and references SAG's acknowledgement of it as well, I just can't find the video but its out there. Don't give up on your SLR106 just yet! Give the Barwarus/Zenitco a shot. Just do know the Bulgy's have thicker barrel profiles so you have to do some precision fitment on their B-33/Barwarus B-33 Clone to get a rock solid lockup if you give that option a try. Not saying invest in putting a suppressor on it, but I've noticed slightly tighter groups with my Putnik on the rifle for whatever that is worth. |

In my experience, AKs are hit or miss with accuracy. I think it depends on how the barrel fits into the trunnion. Are you noticing an alternating pattern depending on which side of the mag it's feeding from? If your barrel is loose you will have a group on the left and a group on the right. |

What I would probably do 1. Pull off the chassis and test with a decent side rail mount compatible with your optic 2. Check the crown (mentioned above) for damage, a face that's not cut truly perpendicular to the bore, and even a crown cut that has uneven depth on all side. A lot of import AKs have a very hastily made crown. 3. Check headspace. Strip the extractor from the bolt before checking. Forget 5.56 gauges, Forster .223 go/nogo are fine. A tight chamber would close on a .223 go gauge with mild pressure, or start to rotate into battery but not close (real tight). If it closes on a nogo then you're getting loose, but it's not too loose until it closes on a 5.56 max gauge. Then the barrel is either done due to chamber wear, or the barrel was headspaced way too loose to begin with. |

I have had a similar experience with my 106F. It is inconsistent with which ever ammo I've run through it and I rarely see better than 3MOA... sometimes worse. I've been through the gun multiple times and ensured everything is torqued to spec but alas, its disappointing. I do have another 106F I'm going to throw this optic on to see if I can get more benefit out of it. Gold brick that puts down a beaten zone like an M240.

I was playing with a MAK-90 yesterday that really doesn’t like Golden Tiger FMJ. Of course iron sights and older eyes does not help me out either. |
