| I see a lot of threads on the WASR, but I don't seem to find any on the SAR rifles, especially the SAR 3. I have used the search function with no joy. Am I missing something here? Thanks. |

Don’t use the search function on this site, instead just do a web search on any browser using this search criteria and it will pull up many archived discussions. “ar15.com romanian sar 3” BTW, I never owned an SAR 3 but I owned both a SAR 1 & 2. Once I modified the triggers to alleviate the slap and redrilled the front sight that was canted on my SAR 1 they both turned out to be great guns. It’s kinda funny when they first sold they were about $300ish and everyone looked down on them as trash can guns. Now they sell for upwards of $800 or more every day and no one complains. |

| I've owned 2 Sar-1's, and one each of a 2 and 3. Sold the 223 as I had a few German weiger mags but wasnt able to stack them deep and figured I'd rather shoot an AR in that caliber. I sold the 2 when surplus looked like it would dry up. Sold my SAR1 then decided I kissed it and picked up another when I had the chance. Decent guns at decent prices. |

Ive owned half a dozen of them when they came into the country twenty something years ago. There were some really nice rifles and excellent to spruce with with cerakote, wood refinishing, proper muzzle devices and so forth. Parts were everywhere. I remember getting a 1 & 2 the same day at my local Az shop for $325 each. I left the shop and dropped them off at Arizona Expertarms to do them up. I think the only SAR that was consistently unreliable were my Sar3's. Mag related usually but I never got one to run for anything. 5.45 and x39 never did anything but dump thousands of rounds in the desert on Jeeping weekends... Yea, J/G sales $69 bucks for 1000 rounds of wolf, those were the days! |

| They were really good guns, very serviceable. With an red dot optic they were accurate for an AK in those days. I had a Kobra on mine, as did my wife on hers. We ground down the part on the hammer that caused the trigger slap. Some had canted front sights, but we went through a crate of them at Classic Arms and got the two straightest ones. We bought two 1,000rd cases of Wolf ammo before they went up. We only paid $59 / 1000. They were changing prices while we were there that day, up to $69 / 1000. We got two mag pouches each with 4 mags, oil bottle, cleaning kit etc. They were $24 per kit. |

Only have two wood cases of Bulgarian and Russian military surplus left.

SAR-2 was my first AK and the -1 was my second. Missed out on the -3 but I don’t feel too terrible about since the mag situation is a hot mess. The SAR-2 will always be one of my favorite rifles. I have a pretty good stockpile of commercial 5.45 so I will enjoy it for the future while I can. |

SAR1 for me. Has been flawless and is my tractor rifle on the ranch. Front sight has just a hint of being canted and not worth the effort to fix. It’s that small. Ammo is available but the low prices years ago are never coming back so it is what it is. If you find one for a decent, buy it. They just go up in price |
