Tactical Tailor was contacted by an Iraqi Special Forces Group that requested an AK chest rig that could support all the weapon platforms the group could/would utilize. Those platforms included the AK-47, AK-74, and the M16. The original spec also called for Woodland Camo. This rig what was TT came up with to support that requirement. This is primarily an AK rig holding 4 AK mags tight against the chest. That said this rig will also hold 8 AR mags or 8 AK-74 mags as well as side pouches for a light, knife, pistol mags or candy bars. The pocket flaps can be removed to hold the mags just in the pockets. The pockets also have a retention strap to hold the mags in when running around. Rainier Gear acquired the remaining contract overrun of Woodland rigs and after running these for a while really saw what a quality AK rig this actually is. We now have these available in Ranger Green and MULTICAM. These are currently a Rainier Gear exclusive. Quality AK rigs like this are hard to find and these are the REAL DEAL. | I bought one of these AK chest rigs in Mutlicam and must say it is first rate and worth the money to me. It fits tight to the chest out of the way and does not change your natural movements. It is built like a tank should last many,many,many years to come my favortive chest rig I owned so far. I am not into those big bulky chest rigs with 20 pockets they just get in the way of my movement this one is small,compact and light. |
| You might try tacticaltailor.com direct. If you don't see what you want, call them and ask. They supplied most of the gear for my unit in the Tacoma area, and I had them make a custom holster for my 1911 with the light/laser, and they did a great job. Outstanding company. |

Maybe I got lucky but I picked up a multi-cam unit from Todd in July. It was slow to ship out but Todd made up for it by throwing in a mini-MAV freebee.
Moondancer, I hope you end up getting yours because they are A+ in quality and function. Not as cumbersome as a full tac vest. All I had to do was move the Fastex buckle connection on the lower horizontal strap from the right to left side kidney area to clear my IWB holster draw. |
I got a response back from Todd on 11/30/08. He said he's all out of the chest rig and does not know when he will get more. 
I'm kicking myself for not buying one back in March this year when I e-mailed him initially about it ... I snooze, I lose. |

TT advises that the old unit straps don't lend themselves to the X-harness. I have one and this is a great lightwieght rig, though. I bought one of these back in '08. I've never worn it, it's been in my gear locker ever since. It's the Iraq SF contract overun in OD. Shoot me a PM if you are interested. I won't post price/shipping etc since this is not the EE. |

FWIW I have several Tactical Tailor products and they are EXCELLENT. Used them in Iraq and Afghanistan. By far one of my best purchases has been their riggers belt. Still going stong, purchased in 2003! Perfect if you plan on using a drop holster and want a belt that wont bend out of shape due to the weight of the rig.
Also, if you want something and they dont have it, they will custom make stuff for you. Just fyi. |
